Job Description
Hevo Data is looking for passionate and talented Software Development Engineer I (SDE I) professionals to join its Backend Engineering team in Bangalore. This role is designed for fresh graduates and early-career software engineers who are excited about building scalable cloud-based data integration products. As an SDE I, you will contribute to the development of Hevo's modern no-code data pipeline platform by implementing SaaS connectors, developing backend services, and improving the efficiency of enterprise data pipelines. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain practical exposure to distributed systems, REST APIs, cloud-native architectures, and backend software development while solving real-world data engineering challenges for customers across the globe.
In this position, you will be responsible for implementing integrations between Hevo's platform and various third-party SaaS applications by building reliable connectors capable of extracting and processing business-critical data. You will develop REST API components, write clean and maintainable backend code, debug application issues, optimize data pipelines, and contribute to improving platform performance. The role also involves collaborating with product managers, senior engineers, and quality assurance teams to deliver high-quality software solutions while following modern software engineering practices. Throughout the development lifecycle, you will participate in feature planning, code reviews, testing, and technical documentation, enabling you to strengthen both your programming expertise and collaborative development skills.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain SaaS connectors that integrate external business applications with Hevo's cloud-based data platform while ensuring reliable and efficient data extraction.
- Implement backend services and REST API components using modern programming practices, focusing on clean architecture, maintainable code, and scalable software design.
- Debug software issues, analyze application logs, identify bottlenecks, and optimize backend components to improve the overall performance and reliability of data pipelines.
- Collaborate with senior engineers during feature planning, requirement analysis, implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous enhancement of backend services.
- Write clean, reusable, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code while adhering to coding standards, software engineering best practices, and version control guidelines.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and peer collaboration sessions to improve software quality, learn engineering best practices, and share technical knowledge.
- Investigate integration issues, understand application authentication mechanisms, and implement effective solutions for seamless connectivity with third-party SaaS platforms.
- Contribute to technical documentation, feature specifications, implementation guides, and knowledge-sharing initiatives that improve engineering productivity and product maintainability.
- Continuously learn new backend technologies, distributed systems concepts, cloud architectures, and performance optimization techniques to enhance technical expertise.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, quality engineers, customer success teams, and senior developers to deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline from a reputed institution with strong academic performance.
- Zero to one year of software development experience, including internships, academic projects, open-source contributions, or practical programming experience.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, software design concepts, and the ability to develop clean, modular, and maintainable applications.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, or TypeScript, along with the ability to quickly learn additional technologies when required.
- Good understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms, including problem-solving techniques, complexity analysis, and efficient coding practices for real-world applications.
- Foundational knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP methods, JSON data formats, API authentication, request-response handling, and web service integration concepts.
- Exposure to data pipelines, backend application development, cloud services, or integration technologies through internships, coursework, or personal projects is desirable.
- Strong analytical thinking, logical reasoning, debugging ability, and curiosity to solve complex engineering problems while continuously improving technical skills.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, collaborative software development workflows, and modern software engineering practices will be considered an added advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, adaptability, willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering team in a fast-paced product environment.
