Job Description
The Technical Support Representative Intern role at IBM offers fresh graduates an opportunity to gain practical exposure to application monitoring, production support, scheduling, and technical operations in a professional enterprise environment. As part of IBM Consulting’s FutureNow Centers, interns can observe experienced consultants and understand how business-critical applications are monitored, administered, and supported for clients across different industries. The internship is designed for candidates who want to build a foundation in IT infrastructure, application support, technical troubleshooting, and production operations. Interns will gain familiarity with monitoring application processes, identifying incidents and faults, performing basic rectification activities, and understanding how application functionality connects with underlying technologies. This experience can help graduates transition from academic knowledge to real-world technology operations.
During the internship, candidates will also gain exposure to scheduling and production monitoring activities, application-related service administration, and non-code application configuration tasks. The position requires flexibility to work in shifts, giving interns a realistic understanding of how enterprise technology environments maintain application availability and operational continuity. IBM Consulting emphasizes collaboration, curiosity, continuous learning, and responsible use of technology, allowing interns to develop both technical and professional capabilities. Candidates will have opportunities to strengthen analytical thinking, communication, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and technical awareness while working around experienced professionals. This role is particularly relevant for graduates from BSc and BCA backgrounds who are interested in technical support, application support, IT operations, infrastructure management, production monitoring, and enterprise technology services.
The internship also provides valuable insight into how large organizations manage low-to-medium complexity production support activities. Interns can observe how consultants analyze incidents, understand application functionality, monitor scheduled processes, support application services, and respond to operational requirements. Rather than focusing primarily on software development, the role introduces candidates to the operational side of technology, where reliability, accuracy, timely communication, and attention to detail are essential. The experience can serve as a strong starting point for careers in technical support, application operations, service management, infrastructure support, IT monitoring, and production support. With IBM’s global consulting environment and exposure to hybrid cloud and AI-driven technology ecosystems, candidates can develop an understanding of enterprise IT practices while building confidence for future technology careers.

Expected Salary
As this is a fixed-term internship position, compensation can vary depending on the applicable IBM internship program and the specific terms offered to the selected candidate. Based on typical India market ranges for graduate-level technical support and IT operations internships, candidates may generally expect an internship stipend of approximately ₹10,000–₹25,000 per month, although the actual IBM offer may differ.
For candidates who use this internship as a pathway into full-time technical support, application support, or IT operations roles, entry-level salaries in India commonly fall around ₹3 LPA–₹6 LPA, depending on skills, location, technology exposure, and subsequent role. Salary figures should therefore be treated as indicative market estimates rather than a confirmed IBM compensation figure.
