Job Description
Growww Tech is hiring a Software Engineer I in Visakhapatnam for an exciting opportunity focused on Shopify development, modern web applications, mobile development, and digital commerce solutions. This position is designed for software professionals with around 2–3 years of experience who have already delivered production-ready applications and are comfortable taking ownership of features from development through deployment. The role involves building Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for Indian direct-to-consumer brands, along with developing custom storefronts and integrating payment gateways, logistics platforms, APIs, and third-party services. Engineers will work across multiple technology areas rather than remaining restricted to a single framework, making this position suitable for developers who enjoy varied technical challenges.
The Software Engineer I will also contribute to Flutter and React Native mobile applications, headless Next.js storefronts, Shopify applications, and custom backend integrations. A key aspect of the role is the practical use of AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Codeium, Windsurf, or Tabnine as part of the professional development workflow. The engineer is expected to use these tools responsibly to accelerate implementation, improve productivity, assist with debugging, and maintain code quality. The position also includes Shopify CLI, Storefront API, REST APIs, JSON, Git, and backend technologies such as PHP, Python, or Node.js. This combination provides broad exposure to modern e-commerce engineering and full-stack product development.
Beyond writing code, the role involves end-to-end feature ownership, code reviews, mentoring, debugging, performance optimization, and collaboration with designers and clients. Engineers will help translate business requirements into polished digital experiences and contribute architectural suggestions where appropriate. Experience with Shopify Plus, B2B commerce, headless commerce architectures such as Hydrogen/Oxygen, cloud platforms, and enterprise storefronts can provide an additional advantage. With hundreds of Shopify stores already launched, the role offers an established environment in which engineers can apply proven development patterns while continuing to solve challenging e-commerce problems involving payments, COD, returns, logistics, mobile experiences, and scalable storefronts.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, creating responsive and production-ready storefront experiences for direct-to-consumer brands.
- Build custom Shopify storefront solutions by translating design concepts and business requirements into reliable, high-performance e-commerce experiences that are optimized for usability and conversion.
- Develop Shopify applications and integrations using APIs and backend technologies, connecting storefronts with payment providers, logistics platforms, business systems, and other third-party services.
- Integrate payment and shipping platforms while carefully handling real-world e-commerce scenarios such as cash-on-delivery transactions, returns, failed payments, and delivery-related edge cases.
- Contribute to mobile application development using Flutter and/or React Native, supporting brands that require dedicated Android and iOS experiences beyond traditional web storefronts.
- Work on headless commerce projects involving Next.js and modern Shopify architectures, helping create flexible storefronts with improved performance, customization, and scalability.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Codeium, Windsurf, or Tabnine as part of the development workflow to improve productivity while maintaining engineering quality and review standards.
- Own features independently from development through deployment, taking responsibility for implementation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and successful delivery of assigned functionality.
- Conduct code reviews and maintain development standards, identifying potential bugs, maintainability concerns, performance issues, and opportunities for architectural improvement.
- Mentor interns and fresher developers by reviewing their implementations, explaining development practices, sharing technical knowledge, and helping them improve their coding abilities.
- Troubleshoot complex application issues across Shopify stores, APIs, mobile applications, and web projects, identifying root causes and implementing reliable fixes.
- Stay updated with Shopify and web development technologies, including platform updates, API changes, emerging frameworks, development tools, and modern e-commerce engineering practices.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Professional Experience: Candidates should have approximately 2–3 years of professional software development experience, preferably involving Shopify, e-commerce, frontend development, or full-stack web engineering.
- Shopify Development: Strong practical knowledge of Shopify and Liquid is required, including experience creating or customizing themes and developing production-ready Shopify storefronts.
- Frontend Technologies: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is essential for building responsive, accessible, and visually polished web experiences.
- Shopify Tools & APIs: Candidates should understand Shopify CLI and the Storefront API, with the ability to work with Shopify's development ecosystem and build customized commerce solutions.
- Backend Programming: Working knowledge of at least one backend technology such as PHP, Python, or Node.js is expected for developing integrations, APIs, and supporting server-side functionality.
- AI Development Tools: Professional experience using at least one AI-powered coding or development assistant, such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, Codeium, Windsurf, or Tabnine, is a mandatory requirement for this position.
- Mobile Development: Familiarity with Flutter or React Native is beneficial, particularly for candidates who have contributed to Android or iOS applications alongside web development projects.
- API & Integration Skills: A solid understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, authentication, and third-party integrations is important for connecting Shopify stores with payment, logistics, and external business services.
- Version Control & Engineering Practices: Candidates should be comfortable using Git and collaborative development workflows, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, testing, debugging, and maintaining clean code.
- Additional Technical Strengths: Experience with Shopify Plus, B2B commerce, Hydrogen/Oxygen, AWS, GCP, Firebase, headless commerce, or enterprise-level Shopify projects will be considered an advantage. Strong communication, independent problem-solving, mentoring ability, and willingness to work across multiple technologies are also important.
Expected Salary
The listed compensation for this Software Engineer I position is ₹25,000 per month, which works out to approximately ₹3 lakh per annum. For professionals with 2–3 years of experience and strong Shopify, JavaScript, API integration, mobile development, and AI-assisted development skills, actual market compensation can vary considerably based on technical depth, portfolio quality, and relevant production experience.
