Job Description

The Application Support Engineer role at Accenture is an excellent opportunity for early-career technology professionals who want to build their expertise in application support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), incident management, system monitoring, and technical troubleshooting. Based in Pune, this position involves acting as a software detective who investigates issues across different components of critical business applications and helps maintain reliable, stable, and efficient systems. The role is particularly suitable for candidates with 0–2 years of experience who possess strong analytical abilities and an interest in understanding how enterprise applications operate in real-world environments. As part of the support function, professionals will work closely with technical teams to identify application issues, investigate incidents, document findings, and contribute to timely resolutions.

Working as an Application Support Engineer at Accenture involves much more than simply responding to technical problems. The position requires a proactive approach toward application reliability, system performance, incident investigation, and continuous service improvement. Engineers are expected to develop knowledge of business applications, participate in problem-solving discussions, assist with monitoring activities, and contribute to an organized knowledge base containing incidents and their resolutions. The role also provides opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to different stakeholders. By identifying recurring problems and supporting effective troubleshooting practices, Application Support Engineers contribute to improved system availability, smoother business operations, and a better overall technology experience for users and internal teams.

The position can also serve as a strong starting point for professionals looking to develop a long-term career in Site Reliability Engineering, application operations, production support, cloud support, DevOps, and IT infrastructure. Candidates will gain practical exposure to monitoring tools, incident management processes, troubleshooting methodologies, application reliability concepts, and structured problem-solving. Since enterprise systems can involve multiple interconnected components, the ability to analyze issues systematically and work with different teams is essential. Accenture's Application Support Engineer opportunity is therefore well suited to candidates who enjoy investigating technical issues, learning new technologies, and working in a fast-paced environment. With experience, professionals can expand their skills into areas such as SRE, DevOps engineering, cloud operations, application engineering, automation, and platform reliability.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Monitor critical business applications and systems to identify unusual behavior, errors, performance issues, service interruptions, or other conditions that may affect application reliability and business operations.
  2. Investigate application incidents and technical issues by collecting relevant information, reviewing available system data, identifying possible causes, and supporting appropriate troubleshooting and resolution activities.
  3. Develop strong knowledge of assigned applications and business systems so that common issues can be recognized quickly and appropriate troubleshooting procedures can be followed efficiently.
  4. Participate in problem-solving discussions with experienced engineers and team members to understand application failures, identify root causes, and contribute practical ideas for preventing recurring incidents.
  5. Support Site Reliability Engineering activities by following established monitoring, incident management, escalation, and service reliability practices designed to maintain stable and dependable applications.
  6. Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions accurately so that the information can be added to internal knowledge bases and reused by engineers when similar issues occur in the future.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to communicate incident details, coordinate troubleshooting activities, provide relevant updates, and ensure issues are moved toward resolution without unnecessary delays.
  8. Assist junior team members and colleagues by sharing troubleshooting approaches, technical observations, application knowledge, and practical insights gained while investigating production or application-related problems.
  9. Work effectively with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that critical incidents receive appropriate attention while routine support activities and documentation remain organized.
  10. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying repeated application problems, inefficient support procedures, documentation gaps, and opportunities to improve monitoring and troubleshooting processes.
  11. Communicate technical information clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that application issues, business impact, investigation progress, and proposed solutions are understood.
  12. Build technical and operational expertise continuously by learning new application components, monitoring practices, reliability concepts, troubleshooting methods, and technologies relevant to modern application support and SRE.
