Job Description
Mindtickle is hiring a Software Engineer, Business Systems to join its Business Technology & Security team in Pune. This role is designed for an engineer who enjoys building practical technology solutions that connect business applications, eliminate repetitive manual processes, and improve the reliability of internal operations. The engineer will work across systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, HRMS platforms, Slack, Google Workspace, and Google Cloud, developing integrations, data pipelines, automations, internal tools, and lightweight services. Rather than simply implementing predefined technical tasks, the Software Engineer, Business Systems will own the technical solution from beginning to end. This includes understanding the defined requirement, choosing the appropriate architecture, developing the solution, testing its behavior, deploying it, monitoring production performance, and supporting it after launch. The position therefore combines software development, API integration, cloud engineering, automation, debugging, and production ownership in a business-focused environment.
A major part of the role involves developing and maintaining integrations between SaaS platforms and internal business systems. The engineer will work extensively with Python, REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, webhooks, authentication mechanisms, event-driven workflows, and cloud services. Mindtickle is looking for someone who understands that successful integration engineering goes beyond simply connecting two APIs. Reliability, pagination, rate limits, retries, idempotency, error handling, data validation, observability, and secure authentication are all important when business-critical information moves between systems. The engineer may also use Google Cloud services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Scheduler, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Compute Engine to build scalable and maintainable solutions. AI-assisted development is also part of the team's working model, with tools such as Claude Code being used alongside conventional software engineering practices. Candidates who have built real-world SaaS integrations and can troubleshoot problems across multiple system boundaries will be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
The Software Engineer, Business Systems will also take responsibility for systems after they have gone live. Around a portion of the role involves operating existing automations, improving monitoring and alerting, responding to incidents, documenting systems, and creating runbooks that make production ownership sustainable. The role also includes technical evaluation and migration work, where the engineer may create prototypes to determine whether a vendor API can satisfy a business requirement, evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, assess technical feasibility, or develop migration scripts and field mappings during platform changes. This is an independent engineering position in a relatively small team, meaning there is significant ownership and limited reliance on traditional sprint-based development processes. Successful candidates will be comfortable moving from requirements to architecture, coding, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and documentation without needing every technical decision prescribed for them. The opportunity is particularly attractive for engineers who want to build systems that have a direct impact on Finance, People Success, IT, Security, GTM, and other business functions.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop Business System Integrations
Design and build reliable integrations between platforms such as Salesforce, NetSuite, HRMS, Slack, Google Workspace, and other SaaS applications using APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures. - Build Automation Solutions
Convert repetitive and manual business processes into dependable software-driven workflows that improve operational efficiency across Finance, People Success, IT, Security, and GTM functions. - Develop Cloud-Based Services
Build and deploy lightweight services, APIs, automation components, and internal tools using Python and Google Cloud services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Scheduler. - Manage Production Systems
Take ownership of deployed automations and integrations by monitoring their health, responding to incidents, investigating failures, improving alerting, and ensuring systems remain reliable after launch. - Work With APIs
Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs while correctly handling authentication, pagination, rate limits, retries, webhooks, idempotency, failures, and other real-world integration challenges. - Create Data Pipelines
Develop data movement and processing workflows using appropriate cloud and data services, including BigQuery, Firestore, and Cloud Storage, while maintaining data quality and consistency. - Conduct Technical Evaluations
Build prototypes and technical spikes to determine integration feasibility, assess vendor API capabilities, evaluate performance and security considerations, and support build-versus-buy decisions. - Support Platform Migrations
Develop data migration processes, field mappings, cutover scripts, validation routines, and supporting automation when business platforms are replaced or upgraded. - Apply AI-Assisted Development
Use modern AI development tools such as Claude Code and other appropriate AI technologies to improve development productivity while applying sound engineering judgment and verification practices. - Test and Verify Solutions
Validate system behavior through meaningful testing, data checks, error scenarios, and production verification rather than relying only on whether an application executes without errors. - Document Technical Solutions
Maintain design notes, technical documentation, operational runbooks, troubleshooting guidance, and system information so that other team members can understand and support the solutions. - Own Solutions End to End
Take responsibility for the complete technical lifecycle of assigned requirements, including design, development, deployment, monitoring, debugging, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Professional Software Experience
Candidates should have approximately 2–4 years of professional experience building software, integrations, automation solutions, internal tools, or similar technology products. - Strong Python Skills
Strong hands-on knowledge of Python is important, particularly for developing integrations, automation scripts, backend services, data workflows, and cloud-based applications. - API Development & Integration
Candidates should have practical experience working with APIs and understand authentication, rate limiting, pagination, retries, webhooks, idempotency, error handling, and event-driven integration patterns. - SaaS Integration Experience
Applicants should have actually developed integrations with SaaS platforms and APIs rather than relying exclusively on visual configuration tools or drag-and-drop integration platforms. - Cloud Computing Knowledge
Hands-on experience with a cloud platform is required. Google Cloud Platform is preferred, although candidates with relevant AWS or Microsoft Azure experience may also be considered. - Production Ownership
Candidates should be able to demonstrate ownership of a software system or automation that they designed, developed, deployed, monitored, and maintained in a professional environment. - Debugging Ability
Strong troubleshooting skills are essential. The ability to investigate inconsistencies between systems, trace failed workflows, analyze logs, identify root causes, and implement reliable fixes is highly valued. - Testing Mindset
Candidates should understand the importance of verification and data correctness. They should be comfortable validating outputs, testing failure scenarios, monitoring results, and measuring whether an integration performs as expected. - Adaptability & Learning
The ability to quickly learn unfamiliar technologies, APIs, platforms, and technical environments is important. Previous experience with every technology in the stack is not mandatory. - Communication & Documentation
Strong written communication skills are expected because design documentation, technical notes, runbooks, operational procedures, and clear engineering communication are an important part of the position.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience building AI agents, tool-use workflows, or agentic applications.
- Knowledge of MCP servers and modern AI-assisted software development.
- Exposure to CRM, ERP, HRIS, ITSM, or other enterprise business systems.
- Experience with BigQuery, ETL, ELT, and data pipeline development.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform services and cloud-native application architecture.
- Understanding of event-driven systems, message-based workflows, and asynchronous processing.
- Familiarity with Git-based development and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working with enterprise SaaS ecosystems and third-party vendor APIs.
Expected Salary
For a Software Engineer, Business Systems position requiring around 2–4 years of experience in Pune, a realistic market-oriented expectation is approximately ₹8 lakh to ₹16 lakh per year, depending on technical expertise, previous integration and cloud experience, and the overall compensation structure. Engineers with strong Python, GCP, SaaS API integration, production ownership, and automation experience may command compensation toward the upper end of this range. Actual Mindtickle compensation can vary based on experience, interview performance, role level, and company-specific salary policies.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
The Mindtickle Software Engineer, Business Systems role offers a different type of engineering experience from a conventional product development position. Instead of working only on isolated application features, the engineer gets an opportunity to solve technology problems across multiple business functions and connect a diverse ecosystem of enterprise platforms.
The position can be particularly valuable for engineers interested in business systems engineering, integration engineering, cloud automation, internal developer tools, SaaS architecture, data pipelines, and AI-assisted development. The strong emphasis on end-to-end ownership also provides exposure to the complete software lifecycle—from designing and coding a solution to deploying, monitoring, debugging, documenting, and improving it in production.
