The Software Engineer I role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining modern web applications and cloud-native platforms that enable collaboration, creativity, and operational efficiency across Nike’s internal product innovation teams. Candidates will work closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to build responsive user interfaces, scalable APIs, and reliable backend services. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications that support Nike’s footwear, apparel, and product innovation ecosystem.
• Build responsive, accessible, and high-performance web applications using modern frontend technologies such as React and Vue.js.
• Develop cloud-native APIs, backend services, and microservices using an API-first development approach for enterprise-scale systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and intuitive software solutions.
• Participate in Agile sprint planning, daily standups, code reviews, and software development lifecycle activities within collaborative engineering teams.
• Integrate AWS cloud services including Lambda, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, S3, and Step Functions into scalable application architectures.
• Contribute to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment workflows to improve engineering efficiency.
• Perform software testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization to ensure application stability and scalability.
• Enhance usability, maintainability, resilience, and operational excellence across frontend applications and backend cloud services.
• Develop and maintain reusable software components, APIs, and engineering frameworks that improve development productivity.
• Support monitoring, deployment, and operational activities to ensure seamless application functionality and user experience.
• Explore emerging technologies including AI, machine learning, and data-driven engineering solutions to support future innovation initiatives.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or an equivalent technical discipline.
• 0–2 years of software development experience with strong understanding of programming fundamentals and software engineering concepts.
• Hands-on experience with frontend frameworks such as React or Vue.js for building modern web applications and user interfaces.
• Familiarity with cloud architecture concepts, DevOps methodologies, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, S3, and Step Functions for cloud-native development.
• Understanding of modern software testing frameworks such as Mocha, Jasmine, Jest, or related testing tools.
• Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals, object-oriented programming, algorithms, and software design patterns.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and scalable distributed systems concepts.
• Basic understanding or interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data engineering technologies will be advantageous.
• Strong analytical thinking, debugging, and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced software engineering environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional global teams.
