The role requires strong programming and system design capabilities, along with an understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, automation testing, and Agile software development practices. Roles & Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, test, and deploy AI-powered software applications using Large Language Models, Agentic AI frameworks, and modern machine learning technologies.
2. Build scalable and efficient AI systems using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines for enterprise applications.
3. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to create intelligent software solutions aligned with business and customer objectives.
4. Develop and maintain distributed multi-tier applications while ensuring high reliability, scalability, security, and system performance.
5. Participate in code reviews, automated testing processes, and software quality assurance activities to maintain clean and maintainable code standards.
6. Analyze technical requirements, identify system improvement opportunities, and deliver innovative AI-based solutions for complex engineering challenges.
7. Optimize application performance, database interactions, and backend services across AI-enabled software ecosystems and enterprise platforms.
8. Work with relational and NoSQL databases to support AI-driven applications, data storage, retrieval, and intelligent processing capabilities.
9. Contribute to Agile software development workflows including sprint planning, Scrum ceremonies, user story analysis, and iterative product enhancements.
10. Develop automation testing strategies and ensure software applications meet performance, functionality, and reliability standards before deployment.
11. Support software maintenance, issue resolution, debugging, and system monitoring activities to ensure smooth production operations.
12. Stay updated with emerging AI technologies, generative AI frameworks, software engineering best practices, and enterprise technology trends.

Requirements & Eligibility

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical disciplines from a recognized institution.
2. Strong understanding of Large Language Models, Generative AI concepts, and Agentic AI frameworks used in enterprise software applications.
3. Knowledge of tools and frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines, and AI orchestration technologies.
4. Experience with object-oriented programming concepts and software development using modern programming languages and distributed architectures.
5. Understanding of distributed multi-tier systems, algorithms, APIs, and database technologies including relational and NoSQL databases.
6. Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and experience working in collaborative software development environments.
7. Hands-on experience in automated testing, software debugging, code reviews, and application performance optimization techniques.
8. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with the capability to handle complex technical challenges effectively.
9. Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, and cross-functional departments.

Expected Salary

The expected salary for the AI Engineer II role at American Express in India generally ranges between ₹14 LPA to ₹24 LPA depending on prior experience, technical expertise, AI engineering exposure, and software development capabilities.
