Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, execute, and maintain functional test cases for enterprise mainframe applications based on business, functional, and technical requirements.
• Perform testing activities across the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) including requirement analysis, test planning, test execution, defect tracking, and reporting.
• Work extensively with mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS, DB2, IMS, and IDMS to validate application functionality and batch processing workflows.
• Investigate, analyze, and resolve production issues, batch job failures, abends, and system errors by debugging application flows and reviewing logs.
• Prepare and manage test data for mainframe batch cycles to ensure accurate and reliable test execution across multiple testing environments.
• Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth delivery of enterprise software solutions.
• Validate integration points involving Connect Direct (C:D), MQ Series, and batch schedulers such as ESP or CA7 for enterprise system operations.
• Participate in peer reviews, provide feedback on test strategies, and contribute to improving testing standards, quality assurance practices, and operational efficiency.
• Utilize defect management and test management tools to document issues, monitor test execution progress, and maintain testing traceability.
• Contribute to automation initiatives using tools such as QTP, REX, or other mainframe automation platforms to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
• Support release validation, regression testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing activities to ensure application stability and business continuity.
• Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements, automation enhancements, and optimization of enterprise testing workflows.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Candidates should possess 4–6 years of professional experience in functional testing, mainframe application testing, or enterprise QA engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on expertise in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and CICS is mandatory for working on enterprise mainframe systems and batch processing applications.
• Experience with DB2, IMS, and IDMS databases is required to support enterprise-level transaction processing and data validation activities.
• Candidates must have practical knowledge of batch schedulers such as ESP or CA7 along with experience handling batch job execution and scheduling processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills are essential for resolving abends, production errors, system failures, and operational issues in mainframe environments.
• Experience with Connect Direct (C:D), MQ Series, and enterprise integration workflows is necessary for validating system communication and data transfers.
• Knowledge of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), test case design, defect management, and independent test execution is mandatory.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as QTP, REX, or other testing frameworks used within mainframe platforms will provide an added advantage.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure is preferred for candidates working in hybrid enterprise technology environments.
• Strong communication skills, stakeholder management abilities, analytical thinking, and collaboration capabilities are required for working effectively within cross-functional teams.
