Job Description:
Nokia is hiring an experienced Test Engineer to join its Fixed Networks (FN) business group in India. The team focuses on delivering gigabit-to-the-home solutions including FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home), 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA), xDSL, cable upgrades, and meshed Wi-Fi systems. As a Test Engineer, you will contribute to validating advanced network management and automation products designed for communication service providers worldwide. This role requires strong technical expertise in access networks, L2/L3 protocols, and automation testing to ensure robust, scalable, and high-performing broadband solutions.

In this role, you will design and develop both manual and automated test cases for features across network management platforms. You will analyze feature impacts, prepare structured test plans, and execute end-to-end testing across integrated systems involving multiple products. Exposure to protocols such as SNMP and Netconf, along with strong L2/L3 networking fundamentals, will be critical. Additionally, you will work with modern architectures including microservices, Kubernetes, SDN/NFV, and cloud-based deployments. Close collaboration with R&D and Product Management teams will ensure that delivered solutions meet real-world customer deployment requirements.

Beyond functional validation, this position emphasizes automation skills and DevOps-driven testing practices. You will contribute to CI/CD integration, regression testing strategies, and continuous quality improvement. Understanding Unix environments, Java/J2EE concepts, OSGi frameworks, and broadband technologies such as DSL and PON will strengthen your impact in this role. Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop comprehensive manual and automated test cases for network management and automation products in access networks.

2. Analyze feature requirements, identify testing impacts, and create structured execution plans for efficient validation.

3. Perform end-to-end integration testing involving multiple network components and real-world deployment scenarios.

4. Validate L2/L3 networking functionality and protocols such as SNMP and Netconf.

5. Prepare and maintain test beds, test setups, and automation frameworks aligned with project requirements.

6. Collaborate with R&D and Product Management teams to deliver high-quality broadband and fixed network solutions.

7. Execute functional, regression, and non-functional testing to ensure system stability and performance.

8. Support cloud-based testing initiatives, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps-driven release cycles.

9. Analyze defects, document findings, and drive issue resolution within tight project timelines.

10. Continuously enhance automation coverage and optimize testing efficiency for large-scale network solutions.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology specializing in Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, or Information Technology.

2. 5–8 years of experience in software testing within networking, telecom, or broadband domains.

3. Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking concepts with hands-on experience in SNMP and Netconf protocols.

4. Proven experience in test automation frameworks and scripting in Unix environments.

5. Good understanding of Java and J2EE concepts along with knowledge of OSGi frameworks.

6. Familiarity with microservices architectures, Kubernetes, and SDN/NFV technologies.

7. Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and modern testing methodologies.

8. Experience in cloud-based solution testing, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps environments.

9. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to collaborate across global teams.

10. Experience in fixed broadband technologies such as DSL or PON products is highly preferred.

Expected Salary:

For a Test Engineer with 5–8 years of experience in networking and broadband domains in India, the expected salary typically ranges between ₹15 LPA to ₹25 LPA depending on expertise in L2/L3 networking, automation testing, and cloud-native architectures. Compensation may vary based on technical depth, product exposure, and performance during evaluation.
