American Express is hiring an Analyst – Data Analytics for its Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) team in Gurugram. This hybrid role offers an exciting opportunity for data-driven professionals to work on large-scale analytics initiatives that support merchant growth, customer engagement, and strategic decision-making within the payments ecosystem. The GMNS Analytics team plays a critical role in helping merchants, partners, and card members leverage actionable insights to improve business performance and optimize customer experiences. In this role, you will support reporting, analytics automation, and data quality initiatives while working with structured and unstructured datasets to derive meaningful business insights. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across marketing, analytics, and merchant operations to develop scalable analytical solutions that improve decision-making and optimize merchant engagement strategies. The position requires strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and hands-on expertise in modern analytics technologies such as SQL, Python, Tableau, and cloud-based data platforms. You will also contribute to identifying reporting gaps, automating manual processes, and improving the effectiveness of existing analytical frameworks.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Support the reporting, measurement, and analytics framework for evolving merchant acquiring and payment business models.
- Analyze structured and unstructured data to generate actionable insights that support strategic business decisions and merchant growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with global teams to automate and scale analytical processes using advanced data tools and technologies.
- Ensure high levels of data quality and integrity by leveraging internal systems, validation methods, and reporting best practices.
- Develop and enhance data tools, dashboards, and analytical solutions to improve merchant engagement and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive reporting processes, eliminate redundancies, and address reporting gaps effectively.
- Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders including marketing, analytics, and business teams to support enterprise priorities.
- Apply advanced analytics techniques and innovative methodologies to optimize business outcomes and improve decision-making capabilities.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and insights for leadership teams using clear communication and strong business storytelling skills.
- Stay updated with emerging trends in analytics, machine learning, cloud computing, and Generative AI technologies.
Requirements & Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and business processes effectively.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Tableau, and cloud-based analytics tools such as Google BigQuery or PySpark.
- Familiarity with data visualization, dashboard development, and reporting automation techniques.
- Understanding of machine learning concepts, cloud technologies, and Generative AI tools is considered an added advantage.
- Ability to work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets in fast-paced business environments.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to present insights clearly to business stakeholders.
- Flexible and adaptable mindset with a strong willingness to learn emerging analytics technologies and business domains.
- Prior experience in merchant analytics, financial services, payments, or customer analytics is preferred but not mandatory.
Expected Salary:
The expected salary for an Analyst – Data Analytics role at American Express in Gurugram generally ranges between ₹10 LPA to ₹18 LPA depending on technical expertise, educational background, and relevant analytics experience.
