Job Description
Yokogawa is hiring a DCS Software Engineer for its Baroda location, offering an opportunity to build a career in industrial automation, control systems, engineering technology, and digital transformation. Distributed Control Systems (DCS) play a critical role in modern industrial environments by monitoring processes, controlling equipment, collecting operational data, and helping organizations run complex facilities safely and efficiently. As a DCS Software Engineer, you can expect to work in a technology-driven environment where software engineering and industrial process knowledge come together to support automation solutions. The role is particularly relevant for engineers interested in control systems, industrial software, process automation, engineering applications, and technologies that contribute to reliable and sustainable industrial operations.
The position sits within Yokogawa's broader technology ecosystem, which spans industrial automation, test and measurement, information systems, industrial services, digital twins, asset monitoring, artificial intelligence, and industrial cybersecurity. Engineers working in this environment can gain exposure to the development and implementation of technologies used in demanding industrial applications. DCS engineering requires careful attention to system reliability, performance, integration, testing, and operational requirements because automation platforms often support processes where consistency and availability are essential. The role therefore provides an opportunity to develop practical engineering expertise while collaborating with professionals from different technical disciplines and contributing to solutions designed for large-scale industrial environments.
Yokogawa operates globally, with employees across more than 60 countries, and places strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, integrity, respect, and continuous professional development. A DCS Software Engineer joining the Baroda team can benefit from working within an international engineering organization while developing skills relevant to industrial automation and next-generation technology. The company's focus on areas such as energy transition, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, industrial cybersecurity, and digital technologies also creates opportunities to understand how automation engineering is evolving. For candidates seeking a long-term career in DCS engineering, process automation, industrial software, control systems, or engineering technology, this position can provide a strong foundation for technical and professional growth.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop and support DCS software solutions designed for industrial automation environments, ensuring that applications and control-system components meet defined functional and operational requirements.
- Work with control-system engineering teams to understand automation requirements and translate process and system specifications into appropriate software and configuration solutions.
- Contribute to DCS system development and implementation by supporting configuration, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyze system requirements and technical specifications to identify functional needs, dependencies, integration considerations, and potential engineering challenges before implementation.
- Perform software and system testing to validate functionality, reliability, performance, and expected behavior of DCS applications and related automation components.
- Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues by analyzing system behavior, identifying root causes, collaborating with engineering teams, and implementing appropriate corrective solutions.
- Support integration with industrial systems and applications, ensuring that DCS platforms can communicate effectively with relevant equipment, software, databases, and other automation technologies.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including software specifications, configuration records, test documentation, technical reports, and project-related information.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including automation engineers, software engineers, project teams, customers, and other technical specialists to deliver reliable industrial solutions.
- Follow software engineering and industrial automation best practices, with particular attention to system reliability, maintainability, safety, cybersecurity, and operational performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve development processes, testing methods, software quality, system performance, and engineering efficiency.
- Stay informed about emerging industrial technologies such as digital twins, artificial intelligence, industrial cybersecurity, asset monitoring, and advanced automation solutions that can influence future DCS platforms.
