Job Description

Cognizant is hiring a Test Analyst to join its Technology & Engineering team in Hyderabad. In this role, you will contribute to delivering high-quality enterprise software solutions by ensuring that applications are thoroughly tested before deployment. As a Test Analyst, you will work closely with development, product, and business teams to validate software functionality, detect defects, and ensure system stability across multiple releases. The role is essential in maintaining high standards of software quality and reliability within Cognizant’s digital transformation projects.

The position focuses on designing, reviewing, and executing test plans and test cases for new features and system enhancements. You will conduct multiple levels of testing, including functional testing, regression testing, system testing, and integration testing. By identifying defects early in the development lifecycle and coordinating with development teams to resolve issues, you will ensure that software products meet business requirements and performance expectations.

Additionally, the Test Analyst will be responsible for managing the entire defect lifecycle—from defect identification and logging to prioritization, retesting, and closure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure defects are reproduced accurately and resolved efficiently. This role provides the opportunity to work in a collaborative and innovative environment while contributing to software quality initiatives that support large-scale enterprise applications and digital transformation programs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and review comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for new features and application enhancements.

• Execute functional, regression, integration, and system testing to validate software behavior across multiple releases.

• Identify software defects and log issues with detailed reproduction steps, expected outcomes, and severity levels.

• Manage the defect lifecycle including defect logging, prioritization, tracking, retesting, and closure in accordance with service-level agreements.

• Collaborate with development, product, and business teams to ensure defects are reproduced accurately and resolved efficiently.

• Participate in test planning and quality assurance processes to ensure product stability and performance.

• Track testing progress and maintain detailed documentation of test results and defect reports.

• Validate application functionality across different environments to ensure consistent performance.

• Provide feedback on system performance, usability, and functionality improvements.

• Contribute to improving testing processes and quality assurance practices within the development lifecycle.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Experience in software testing including test case design, test execution, and defect management.

• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA processes.

• Experience performing functional testing, regression testing, system testing, and integration testing.

• Familiarity with defect tracking tools and test management platforms.

• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify defects and analyze system behavior.

• Ability to manage multiple testing activities simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and quality.

• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and reporting testing progress.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced Agile development environment.

Expected Salary

The typical salary for a Test Analyst at large IT consulting companies in India generally ranges between ₹6 LPA to ₹12 LPA, depending on experience, testing expertise, and familiarity with enterprise testing frameworks.
