AQM Technologies Pvt. Ltd is looking for skilled API Testing Engineers to join its quality assurance team through a walk-in drive in Mumbai. The company specializes in delivering high-quality software testing services and aims to ensure bug-free software for enterprise clients across multiple industries. As an API Testing Engineer, you will be responsible for validating backend systems, ensuring seamless communication between applications, and verifying the reliability of REST and SOAP-based APIs. In this role, you will perform manual API testing using industry-standard tools such as Postman and SoapUI while validating application data using SQL queries. The position requires analyzing API responses, verifying backend data integrity, and identifying potential issues that may affect system functionality or performance. You will collaborate closely with development teams to ensure that APIs function correctly and meet the required business and technical specifications.

Additionally, the API Testing Engineer will participate in the complete testing lifecycle including test planning, execution, defect tracking, and reporting. By applying structured testing methodologies and strong analytical skills, you will help maintain the quality and reliability of enterprise applications. This role provides valuable exposure to backend testing, API validation, and database verification processes within a fast-paced software testing environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform manual testing of REST and SOAP APIs to ensure accurate data exchange and proper communication between software systems.

• Execute API test cases using testing tools such as Postman and SoapUI to validate system responses and functionality.

• Write and execute SQL queries to verify backend data integrity and ensure accurate data processing within applications.

• Conduct functional, integration, and regression testing to ensure application stability after updates or new feature implementations.

• Identify, document, and track software defects using defect management tools while coordinating with development teams for issue resolution.

• Analyze API request and response payloads to ensure that services operate according to technical specifications and business requirements.

• Collaborate with developers and QA team members to improve testing processes and ensure high-quality software delivery.

• Prepare detailed test documentation including test cases, test reports, and defect logs for project transparency and tracking.

• Participate in requirement analysis meetings to understand application workflows and define appropriate testing strategies.

• Continuously improve testing efficiency by identifying opportunities for automation and improving existing testing processes.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• 2–5 years of professional experience in API testing within software testing or quality assurance roles.

• Strong hands-on experience in testing REST and SOAP APIs using tools such as Postman.

• Experience working with SQL databases to validate backend data and perform data verification during testing.

• Familiarity with API testing tools such as SoapUI for validating SOAP-based web services.

• Strong understanding of software testing lifecycle including test planning, execution, defect tracking, and reporting.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills required to identify system issues and validate API responses.

• Experience performing functional, regression, and integration testing for enterprise applications.

• Strong communication skills to collaborate with development teams and explain testing results clearly.

• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced testing environments while maintaining attention to detail.

Expected Salary

The typical salary for an API Testing Engineer with 2–5 years of experience in India generally ranges between ₹6 LPA to ₹12 LPA, depending on technical expertise, testing tools proficiency, and experience working with API-based enterprise systems. Candidates with strong SQL knowledge and experience in REST/SOAP API validation may receive higher compensation packages.
