Citi – SDET Automation Tester (API & UI)

About the Role

Citi is hiring a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong expertise in API and UI automation. This role sits within Citi’s Technology – Applications Development group and focuses on building scalable automation frameworks that ensure high-quality financial applications.

As part of a global engineering team, you will design, develop, and maintain automated test suites across REST/SOAP APIs and web user interfaces. The position requires strong coding skills, deep understanding of automation frameworks, and experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Test Strategy & Planning

• Collaborate with product and development teams to define test strategies.

• Create comprehensive test plans for API and UI components.

🔹 API Automation

• Build automated API test suites using Rest Assured, Karate, Postman (Newman), or SoapUI.

• Validate REST and SOAP services for functionality, reliability, performance, and security.

• Integrate API tests into CI/CD pipelines.

🔹 UI Automation

• Develop automation using Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress, or WebDriverIO.

• Ensure cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.

• Write scalable and maintainable UI automation frameworks.

🔹 Framework & CI/CD

• Enhance modular automation frameworks.

• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD tools for rapid feedback.

• Generate execution reports and quality dashboards.

🔹 Collaboration

• Work closely with developers and product owners.

• Mentor junior QA engineers.

• Promote shift-left and automation-first quality culture.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

• 3+ years of strong automation testing experience.

• Proficiency in one programming language: Java / Python / JavaScript / C#.

• Hands-on API automation (Rest Assured, Karate, Postman, SoapUI).

• UI automation expertise (Selenium / Playwright / Cypress).

• Understanding of REST, SOAP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

• Experience with Git and Agile methodologies.

• Strong analytical and debugging skills.

Preferred Strengths

• Experience integrating automation with CI/CD pipelines.

• Banking/financial domain exposure.

• Framework design and architecture experience.

• Ability to mentor and lead automation initiatives.

Expected Salary in Pune

For 3–6 years of experience in automation testing within the banking domain, the typical salary range in Pune is:

₹12 LPA – ₹22 LPA

Candidates with strong framework design experience and multi-tool automation expertise may command higher compensation in global banking organizations.
