Job Description:
HID Global is hiring a Test Engineer for its Chennai Engineering Centre to support innovative Physical Access Control Solutions (PACS). In this position, you will create comprehensive test plans, scripts, and test data to ensure functional accuracy, regression stability, and non-functional performance compliance. You will perform mobile automation using Appium and web automation with Selenium WebDriver frameworks. The role requires hands-on participation in Agile ceremonies, collaboration with developers and architects to improve testability, and contribution to user story refinement from a QA perspective. You will also triage field-reported issues and recreate them in test environments to ensure quick resolution.

Beyond functional testing, you will support CI integration through Jenkins or Bamboo, manage test cases using tools like TestRail or Zephyr, and maintain documentation using Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence. Knowledge of security products such as access control systems, readers, smart cards, and related protocols is an added advantage. Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Create detailed test plans, test cases, scripts, and test data for mobile, web, and desktop applications.

2. Perform manual and automated testing including functional, regression, and performance testing.

3. Execute mobile automation using Appium and web UI automation using Selenium WebDriver.

4. Record and track defects using tools such as Jira, ensuring timely closure and retesting.

5. Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and design discussions.

6. Provide testing insights during user story refinement and architecture reviews.

7. Triage field-reported issues by recreating them in test environments and analyzing root causes.

8. Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines using Jenkins or Bamboo.

9. Install, configure, and validate products in test and production-like environments.

10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure, and high-quality product releases.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science Engineering, or a related field (graduate degree preferred).

2. 3–5 years of experience in QA or Test Engineering roles.

3. Strong experience in mobile application testing (manual and automation).

4. Hands-on experience with Appium for mobile automation testing.

5. Proven expertise in Selenium WebDriver and web automation frameworks.

6. Experience with test case management tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, or similar platforms.

7. Familiarity with Atlassian suite tools including Jira and Confluence.

8. Experience with CI tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.

9. Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, SDLC, and testing best practices.

10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Good to Have:

• Knowledge of access control systems, smart cards, and security protocols.

• Experience working with hardware-integrated or embedded security systems.

Expected Salary:

For a Test Engineer with 3–5 years of mobile and web automation experience in Chennai, the expected salary typically ranges between ₹8 LPA to ₹15 LPA depending on expertise in Appium, Selenium, CI integration, and exposure to security product testing. Compensation may vary based on automation depth and domain knowledge in physical access control systems.
