Job Description:
Dataction Analytics Pvt Ltd is hiring a Test Engineer (Manual) for its Pune office to support one of its esteemed international clients in the travel technology domain. Established in 2010, Dataction is a fast-growing IT and analytics consulting firm delivering high-quality technology and business solutions across global markets. In this role, you will work on high-scale backend systems that process millions of hotel booking requests daily, ensuring reliability, accuracy, and performance across complex travel workflows.

As a Manual Test Engineer, you will execute comprehensive testing across backend and booking systems, covering search, pricing, booking, and post-booking flows. The role requires strong hands-on experience in REST API testing using Postman, validating complex JSON responses, analyzing HTTP fundamentals, and investigating backend logs and request traces. You will design and maintain detailed test cases, simulate real-world travel scenarios, and validate business logic such as pricing rules, cancellations, and multi-vendor configurations.

Beyond execution, you will collaborate closely with development and product teams throughout the SDLC in an Agile environment. You will take ownership of defect documentation, regression validation, and continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying areas for automation enhancement. Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Execute comprehensive manual testing for complex backend and travel booking systems.

2. Perform REST API testing using Postman, validating request payloads and complex JSON responses.

3. Analyze multi-step backend flows including search, pricing, booking, and post-booking workflows.

4. Validate complex business scenarios such as pricing rules, cancellations, and multi-vendor logic.

5. Design, maintain, and execute detailed manual test cases covering edge cases and configurations.

6. Investigate failures using backend logs, correlation IDs, and request tracing tools.

7. Validate data consistency through SQL queries (SELECT, JOIN) for backend database verification.

8. Document defects clearly and collaborate with developers for timely resolution.

9. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to requirement analysis and estimation activities.

10. Support continuous quality improvement by identifying automation opportunities and enhancing test coverage.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Minimum 3 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance with strong manual testing expertise.

2. Hands-on experience in REST API testing, including Postman collections, environments, and variables.

3. Solid understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, headers, and authentication mechanisms.

4. Experience analyzing backend logs and request traces to debug system behavior.

5. Proficiency in SQL for validating backend data integrity.

6. Experience working with Swagger/OpenAPI documentation for API specification analysis.

7. Familiarity with JSON request and response payload validation.

8. Experience using defect tracking and project management tools such as Azure DevOps.

9. Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, regression, smoke, and sanity testing types.

10. Bachelor’s degree in Computer/IT Engineering (BCS, BCA, MCS, or equivalent).

Good to Have:

• Exposure to automation testing using Selenium.

• Experience in travel technology or high-volume transaction systems.

Expected Salary:

For a Manual Test Engineer with 3 years of backend and API testing experience in Pune, the expected salary typically ranges between ₹6 LPA to ₹10 LPA depending on domain exposure, SQL proficiency, and experience with high-transaction systems. Compensation may vary based on expertise in travel technology workflows and Agile project environments.
