Job Description

The Trainee – Software Quality Engineer position at Zapare Technologies is an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and early-career technology professionals who want to build a career in software testing, quality assurance, and test automation. As part of the Product & AI Engineering team, the candidate will support the testing and maintenance of Python-based applications, backend components, and data pipelines. The role involves understanding software requirements, preparing detailed test cases, executing manual and automated tests, identifying defects, and verifying that applications meet expected functionality and quality standards. This opportunity is particularly suitable for candidates who have a strong eye for detail, enjoy finding software issues, and want practical exposure to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and modern quality engineering practices.

Working as a Software Quality Engineer at Zapare Technologies requires a combination of technical understanding, analytical thinking, and a quality-focused approach. The trainee will participate in functional, regression, and integration testing across web and potentially mobile applications while supporting the development and maintenance of automated test scripts. Exposure to tools such as Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright, along with frameworks such as PyTest, TestNG, and JUnit, can help candidates develop practical automation testing skills. The role also involves detecting, documenting, tracking, and following defects through resolution. By working closely with software developers, QA professionals, and other engineering team members, candidates will learn how to reproduce issues, investigate potential causes, validate fixes, and improve overall application stability.

This position can provide a strong foundation for candidates looking to pursue long-term careers in Software Testing, Quality Assurance, Test Automation, Software Quality Engineering, SDET, and Application Testing. Candidates will gain practical experience in designing test scenarios, executing different types of testing, maintaining automation scripts, analyzing defects, and contributing to product quality throughout the development lifecycle. Attention to detail and the ability to think from both a technical and end-user perspective are particularly valuable in this role. For freshers, the opportunity can help bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world software quality practices while developing skills that are increasingly important in modern Agile and DevOps-driven software development environments.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Analyze software requirements and functional specifications to understand expected application behavior and translate requirements into clear, comprehensive, and measurable test scenarios.
  2. Design and prepare detailed test cases covering positive, negative, boundary, and functional scenarios to ensure that application functionality is evaluated from multiple perspectives.
  3. Execute manual and automated testing for web and mobile applications, carefully recording test results and identifying deviations between expected and actual application behavior.
  4. Develop and maintain automated test scripts using suitable testing tools and frameworks, helping the QA team improve test coverage, repeatability, and overall testing efficiency.
  5. Work with automation technologies such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright to build practical experience in automated browser testing and modern software quality engineering practices.
  6. Perform functional testing to verify that individual application features work according to business and technical requirements before software is released to users.
  7. Conduct regression testing after application changes, enhancements, or bug fixes to ensure that existing functionality continues to work correctly without introducing new defects.
  8. Perform integration testing to validate interactions between different application components, backend services, databases, APIs, and other connected systems.
  9. Identify, document, and track software defects by providing accurate reproduction steps, expected and actual results, supporting evidence, severity information, and other relevant details.
  10. Collaborate closely with developers and engineering teams to investigate reported issues, understand potential root causes, communicate findings, and verify that fixes successfully resolve identified defects.
  11. Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting for software issues, using logical reasoning and technical investigation to understand why a defect occurred and how similar problems can be prevented.
  12. Support continuous improvement of software quality processes by learning new testing tools, improving test coverage, maintaining automation scripts, and following established QA and engineering standards.

Requirements & Eligibility

  1. Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. A strong academic foundation in programming, databases, software engineering, or computer systems can be beneficial.
  2. Experience Level: This opportunity is designed for freshers and candidates with 0–1 year of experience, making it suitable for graduates with academic projects, internships, or basic practical exposure to software testing.
  3. Software Testing Fundamentals: Candidates should understand basic software testing principles, including test cases, test scenarios, defect life cycles, functional testing, regression testing, and integration testing.
  4. SDLC & STLC Knowledge: A basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) is expected. Candidates should understand how testing activities fit into the broader software development process.
  5. Test Automation Exposure: Hands-on exposure to automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright is valuable. Candidates should be interested in learning how automated tests can improve coverage and reduce repetitive manual testing.
  6. Testing Framework Knowledge: Familiarity with frameworks such as PyTest, TestNG, or JUnit can provide an advantage. Candidates should understand the purpose of test frameworks and be willing to develop stronger automation skills.
  7. Analytical & Root-Cause Analysis Skills: Candidates should be capable of identifying unusual application behavior, analyzing defects, investigating possible causes, and suggesting practical solutions to software quality problems.
  8. Attention to Detail: A strong eye for detail is essential for a Software Quality Engineer. Candidates should carefully compare expected and actual results and identify even small inconsistencies that could affect application reliability.
  9. Quality-Focused Mindset: Applicants should take ownership of software quality and understand that effective testing involves more than finding bugs. It also includes preventing defects, improving test coverage, and helping development teams deliver stable software.
  10. Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills are important because QA engineers regularly interact with developers and other stakeholders. Candidates should be able to clearly explain defects, testing results, reproduction steps, and technical observations.

Expected Salary

For a Trainee Software Quality Engineer / QA Engineer with 0–1 year of experience in India, a realistic entry-level salary expectation is generally around ₹2.5 lakh to ₹4.5 lakh per year, depending on location, technical skills, automation exposure, academic background, and the employer's compensation structure. Candidates with practical knowledge of Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, PyTest, API testing, and programming fundamentals may have stronger opportunities toward the higher end of the fresher salary range.
