Job Description
HSBC is hiring a Data Quality Analyst to join its Data and Analytics function supporting the UK business operations. In this role, you will help ensure that data used across banking systems remains accurate, consistent, and reliable for decision-making and operational processes. Data plays a critical role in banking services, risk management, and regulatory compliance, and this position focuses on maintaining high standards of data integrity across enterprise platforms. As a Data Quality Analyst, you will work with large datasets and advanced analytics tools to monitor and improve data quality across financial systems.
The role involves analyzing data pipelines, validating datasets, and implementing quality rules that help maintain consistency across multiple banking platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, IT architects, and business stakeholders to identify data issues and ensure they are resolved efficiently. By performing root cause analysis on data errors and validating fixes, you will contribute to maintaining reliable data flows that support HSBC’s digital banking operations and analytics initiatives.
Additionally, the Data Quality Analyst will contribute to improving the bank’s data governance practices and data quality frameworks. The role requires monitoring data pipelines, identifying inconsistencies, and implementing quality checks that ensure accurate data integration across systems. Working within HSBC’s global data management ecosystem, you will help support AI-driven analytics initiatives and data platform strategies that enable better risk management, customer insights, and operational efficiency across the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities

Develop and implement data quality rules to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of business data across banking systems.

Analyze datasets to identify inconsistencies, duplicate records, missing values, and other data integrity issues.

Monitor data pipelines and integration processes to detect errors and ensure seamless data flow across enterprise platforms.

Perform root cause analysis of data quality issues and collaborate with engineering and business teams to resolve systemic problems.

Conduct validation testing of data fixes and enhancements to ensure that identified data issues are fully resolved.

Work closely with stakeholders including business teams, data engineers, and architects to implement data quality improvements.

Track and manage data quality incidents while escalating critical issues that impact business operations.

Contribute to the development of data governance frameworks and best practices within the organization.

Generate reports and insights related to data quality performance metrics and improvement initiatives.

Support enterprise analytics initiatives by ensuring that datasets used for reporting and AI models are accurate and reliable.
Requirements & Eligibility

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Finance, or a related technical discipline.

Experience working in data quality management, data analytics, or data governance roles within large organizations.

Strong understanding of data quality principles including accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, and timeliness.

Experience analyzing large datasets and identifying data anomalies using analytical techniques.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and validation tasks.

Familiarity with enterprise data quality tools and data governance platforms used in large organizations.

Basic knowledge of programming or analytics tools such as Python, BI tools, or similar technologies.

Experience working with collaboration and project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking required to identify root causes of data quality issues.

Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across different geographic regions and time zones.

Excellent communication skills for collaborating with technical teams and business stakeholders.
Expected Salary
The average salary for a Data Quality Analyst in large banking and financial services organizations in India generally ranges between ₹10 LPA to ₹18 LPA, depending on experience, analytical expertise, and familiarity with enterprise data management tools. Candidates with strong data governance knowledge and experience in banking data platforms may receive higher compensation along with performance bonuses and additional benefits.
