Barclays: Senior ETL Test Engineer

Join Barclays as a Senior ETL Test Engineer in our Wholesale Onboarding & Group FCO division in Pune. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute ETL test cases for Informatica and related data transformation tools.

• Validate large data sets across extraction, transformation, and loading phases to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy.

• Automate ETL validation processes using Python, SQL, QuerySurge, Unix/Shell scripts, and integrate them with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, and DevOps pipelines.

• Conduct schema validations, automated data comparisons, and regression testing across various environments.

• Collaborate closely with BAs, developers, and data architects to define testing scopes, acceptance criteria, and troubleshoot pipeline issues.

• Maintain robust version control of test plans, scripts, and data via GitLab or other VCS tools.

• Log and manage defects through JIRA, and support their resolution through active collaboration with development teams.

• Document best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives across QA and automation processes.

• Perform data privacy validation, including masking, encryption, and access control checks, to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.

• Deliver clear, actionable test execution reports with insights on coverage, performance, and defect metrics.

Skills & Requirements
✔️ Strong knowledge of ETL testing, particularly with Informatica.
✔️ Hands-on experience in writing complex SQL queries for data validation across relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, MongoDB).
✔️ Proficiency in Python for test automation scripting.
✔️ Familiarity with Unix, Shell scripting, and test automation frameworks like QuerySurge.
✔️ Prior experience in BDD/TDD methodologies is highly desirable.
✔️ Understanding of Agile workflows using Scrum or Kanban, including tools like JIRA.
✔️ Experience with Cloud platforms (AWS) and Kafka (Confluent) is a strong advantage.
✔️ Strong analytical mindset with the ability to bridge gaps between user stories and business requirements.
✔️ Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Expected Salary
