Job Description

Gallagher is seeking a Trainee Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to join its technology platform team in Chandigarh. This role is designed for fresh graduates or early-career professionals who want to build expertise in software testing and quality assurance. As a Trainee SQA Engineer, you will gain hands-on exposure to software testing processes, quality assurance practices, and testing tools while working alongside experienced engineers. The role focuses on ensuring that software applications meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and functionality before deployment.

In this position, you will support testing activities by assisting in the creation of test plans, executing test cases, and documenting test results. You will learn how to analyze application functionality, identify defects, and ensure that systems perform according to business and technical requirements. By collaborating with development and product teams, you will help maintain consistent product quality and contribute to improving testing processes across the organization.

Additionally, the Trainee SQA Engineer will gain experience working with modern software development methodologies and testing frameworks. You will develop knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) while assisting in validating new features and product enhancements. This role provides an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in software testing, automation tools, and quality engineering practices within a global technology environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and executing test cases to verify the functionality and reliability of software applications.

• Support the preparation of test plans and testing scenarios based on product requirements and specifications.

• Perform manual testing activities to identify defects and verify application behavior.

• Document defects clearly with reproduction steps, screenshots, and detailed observations.

• Collaborate with development teams to validate bug fixes and ensure product stability.

• Participate in software testing activities across different stages of the software development lifecycle.

• Maintain detailed records of test execution results and quality metrics.

• Support regression testing processes to ensure that newly introduced features do not impact existing functionality.

• Learn and adopt industry-standard software testing methodologies and quality assurance best practices.

• Assist in improving testing workflows and contributing ideas for better software quality processes.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree or appearing in B.Tech, MCA, MSc (Computer Science), BCA, or BSc (Computer Science) with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 or higher.

• Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).

• Familiarity with software testing concepts such as test case design, defect tracking, and regression testing.

• Knowledge of a programming or scripting language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript is an advantage.

• Strong attention to detail to identify defects and ensure accurate testing results.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills for understanding application behavior.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities for collaborating with developers and project teams.

• Willingness to learn new technologies, testing tools, and quality assurance frameworks.

• QA certification or prior trainee experience in software testing is considered an advantage.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced technology environment while maintaining high quality standards.

Expected Salary

The typical salary for a Trainee Software Quality Assurance Engineer in India generally ranges between ₹3 LPA to ₹6 LPA, depending on academic qualifications, technical knowledge, and internship experience.
