Job Description:

As a Senior SDET at IDFC FIRST Bank Chennai, you'll be a cornerstone in driving quality across digital banking platforms. In this hands-on role, you'll design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing, ensuring end-to-end quality coverage. You will champion automation best practices within agile squads, embed testing processes into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with DevOps, development, and product teams to deliver dependable, secure, and scalable financial solutions.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll not just automate—you'll architect the testing strategy, mentor junior engineers, and influence quality culture. Your work will ensure that products meet compliance, performance, and reliability standards expected in modern banking environments.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Automation Strategy & Framework Development: Architect and maintain scalable test automation frameworks (UI, API, integration).

2. Test Automation Implementation: Write and maintain high-quality automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Appium, Rest-Assured, or similar.

3. CI/CD Integration: Embed automation into build pipelines (using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent) to enable continuous testing.

4. API & Backend Testing: Design and execute robust API test suites and validate backend integrations, ensuring data accuracy and stability.

5. Performance & Security Testing: Collaborate with performance engineering teams to simulate high load, analyze bottlenecks, and validate resilience.

6. Agile Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, developers, and test analysts to refine acceptance criteria and ensure comprehensive test coverage.

7. Mentoring & Code Review: Guide and review the work of junior SDETs, promoting test automation best practices and clean coding standards.

8. Quality Metrics & Reporting: Track test effectiveness, flakiness, pass rates, and coverage; present actionable insights to stakeholders.

9. Defect Lifecycle Management: Log, triage, and track resolution of defects; support root cause analysis and advocate for timely fixes.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Experience: Minimum 5 years in SDET roles with strong automation experience across web and API layers.

2. Technical Skills:

   • Proficiency in languages like Java, Python, or JavaScript for test development.

   • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (Selenium, Appium, Rest-Assured, JMeter, etc.).

   • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bamboo.

   • Knowledge of version control systems like Git.

3. Testing Methodologies: Deep understanding of Agile testing philosophies, TDD/BDD, and test lifecycle best practices.

4. Domain Awareness: Bonus if familiar with banking systems, fintech integrations, and regulatory compliance testing.

5. Analytical & Communication Skills: Excellent at triaging issues, articulating risks, and communicating test strategy clearly.

6. Leadership: Experience mentoring team members, leading automation initiatives, and improving quality workflows.

Expected Salary:
