✅ Job Title:
Cloud Engineer – IBM, Bangalore

IBM is hiring an entry-level Cloud Engineer in Bangalore as part of the IBM Z and LinuxOne Early Professional program. You will work with AI-powered hybrid cloud platforms (IBM Cloud Paks) to accelerate application modernization by integrating data, automation, and security. Collaborating with sales, support, product management, and engineering teams, you will tackle architecture design, deployment, migrations, performance tuning, and scalability for s390x Linux on Z. This role offers hands-on experience building and maintaining cloud solutions, exposure to advanced technologies, and the chance to contribute to mission-critical projects that protect and optimize enterprise workloads worldwide.


🧩 Key Responsibilities
Cloud Pak Enablement & Deployment

  • Install, configure, and deploy IBM Cloud Paks on Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.

  • Work with product managers and engineers to enable Data, Integration, AIOps, and Automation Cloud Paks on IBM Z and LinuxOne platforms.

Microservices & Container Technologies

  • Design and implement microservices-based architectures using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Manage container orchestration and virtualization tasks, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.

Development & Automation

  • Write and maintain production-quality code in Java, Python, or C/C++ to extend or integrate cloud solutions.

  • Develop automation scripts (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) for provisioning and configuration management.

  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Travis for automated builds, tests, and deployments.

Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting

  • Analyze system performance, debug code, and optimize SQL queries for data access layers (Spring Data JPA, Hibernate).

  • Identify and address bottlenecks in compute, storage, and network components for hybrid-cloud deployments.

Collaboration & Mentoring

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs.

  • Mentor junior engineers on cloud best practices, secure coding principles, and DevSecOps workflows.

Observability & Security

  • Implement observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) for real-time monitoring and alerting.

  • Enforce cloud-native security practices, including IAM policies, network security groups, encryption, and compliance checks.


🎓 Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Familiarity with enterprise microservices architectures and design patterns.

  • Hands-on experience with container technologies (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift).

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Java (Spring Boot), Python, or C/C++.

  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Travis).

  • Understanding of Linux system administration and virtualization management for s390x servers.

  • Knowledge of REST APIs, service catalogs, and microservices frameworks.

  • Basic understanding of cloud-native development (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid-cloud deployments.

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks or observability tools is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with global teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple client accounts and projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.

  • Collaborative mindset with a customer-centric approach and willingness to mentor peers.

Preferred Certifications (Not Mandatory)

  • Kubernetes Certified Application Developer (CKAD) or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

  • IBM Cloud Pak or Red Hat OpenShift certifications.

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent.


💰 Estimated Salary Range

  • Monthly Salary: ₹70,000 – ₹100,000

  • Annual CTC: ₹8.4 LPA – ₹12 LPA

Note: Based on industry benchmarks for entry-level cloud engineers in Bangalore; actual compensation may vary.
