Job Description

Harmonic is seeking a Senior Software QA Engineer to join its innovative broadband and video delivery team in Bengaluru. This hybrid role offers an opportunity to work at the forefront of next-generation networking technologies, contributing to solutions that power ultra-high-quality video streaming and gigabit internet services worldwide. As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a critical role in validating complex broadband and microservices-based platforms, ensuring high reliability, performance, and scalability in production-grade deployments.

At Harmonic, quality assurance is deeply integrated into the engineering lifecycle. You will design comprehensive test plans, create detailed test cases, and execute testing strategies for containerized, microservices-driven applications. The position involves working closely with development and DevOps teams within Agile/Scrum environments to validate networking technologies and L2 forwarding mechanisms. Exposure to cutting-edge systems such as SONiC OS and SAI API testing environments will further strengthen your expertise in broadband infrastructure validation.

As part of Harmonic’s broadband revolution, you will contribute to solutions supporting Unified DOCSIS 4.0, Remote OLT, and AI-driven operational platforms. The role demands a proactive, analytical professional capable of testing distributed systems deployed via Docker containers. Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop detailed test plans and comprehensive test cases aligned with functional and non-functional requirements.

• Execute manual and automated testing strategies for microservices-based and containerized deployments.

• Validate L2 forwarding mechanisms and networking protocols to ensure optimal system performance.

• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams to align QA activities with development sprints.

• Test Docker-based container environments and microservices orchestration platforms.

• Participate in regression, system integration, and performance testing cycles to maintain product quality.

• Identify defects, conduct root cause analysis, and coordinate resolution with development teams.

• Validate deployments within SONiC OS and SAI API test environments where applicable.

• Contribute to improving QA methodologies and enhancing automation frameworks for networking solutions.

• Document test results, quality metrics, and risk assessments for stakeholder reporting.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software quality assurance or networking validation roles.

• Proven expertise in writing clear and structured test plans and executing complex test cases.

• Strong understanding of Docker, containerization technologies, and microservices deployment models.

• Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies in fast-paced engineering environments.

• Knowledge of L2 forwarding and networking technologies, with hands-on validation experience preferred.

• Familiarity with SONiC OS and SAI API testing environments is considered a strong advantage.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.

• Ability to collaborate effectively in hybrid and distributed team environments.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate testing outcomes clearly.

Expected Salary

For a Senior Software QA Engineer role at Harmonic in Bengaluru, the expected salary typically ranges between ₹15 LPA and ₹25 LPA, depending on networking expertise, microservices experience, and hands-on exposure to advanced broadband technologies.
