Job Description

Clarivate is seeking a highly skilled Team Lead – Quality Assurance Engineer to join our India-based QA team. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects while collaborating with a global team of experts in manual testing, test automation, performance engineering, DevOps, accessibility testing, and security testing.

As a QA Team Lead, you will spend approximately 80% of your time coding and 20% managing people, making it ideal for hands-on technical leaders who can also guide and mentor junior engineers. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust test automation frameworks, ensuring application reliability across UI, services, and data layers, while contributing to performance and accessibility testing initiatives.

This role demands expertise in automation with Java/TypeScript, CI/CD pipelines, and strong knowledge of functional and non-functional testing. It also offers opportunities to mentor junior team members, lead test strategy discussions, and contribute to enterprise-scale product development.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Test Automation & Coding

  • Design, implement, and execute automated tests for UI, API, and services.

  • Debug, maintain, and optimize existing test suites.

  • Architect test automation frameworks and select tools/technologies best suited for projects.

  • Contribute to automation integration within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket).

• Manual & Functional Testing

  • Maintain and execute manual test cases using tools like Zephyr in JIRA.

  • Ensure defect tracking and reporting through bug tracking and test management tools.

• Performance & Accessibility Testing

  • Conduct performance engineering using JMeter, LoadRunner, or Netload, with strong skills in browser-side performance analysis.

  • Apply accessibility testing using WCAG/508 guidelines and tools such as WAVE, AXE, AChecker, SiteImprove.

• Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior QA engineers and assist in onboarding new joiners.

  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and global QA teams.

  • Drive best practices for QA in Agile/Kanban environments.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Communicate test progress, risks, and results to leadership and stakeholders.

  • Configure regression frameworks across multiple environments.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Education: BE, ME, B.Tech, M.Tech, MCA, or MS in Computer Science/Engineering.

• Experience: Minimum 7 years in QA with demonstrable expertise in:

  • Automation Testing: Java, Selenium, Cucumber, Rest Assured, JUnit/TestNG, Playwright, Robot Framework.

  • Performance Testing: JMeter, LoadRunner, or Netload, with strong analytical skills.

  • Accessibility Testing: Familiarity with WCAG/508 standards and accessibility testing tools.

• Strong understanding of the testing pyramid (functional + non-functional).

• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket).

• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS).

• Familiarity with test and defect management tools (Zephyr, TestRail, JIRA).

• Excellent debugging, coding, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication and leadership skills to manage distributed teams.

Good to Have:

• Agile development experience.

• Familiarity with Elasticsearch, MongoDB, NoSQL querying.

• Hands-on use of browser developer tools for performance and debugging.

• Proactive approach to continuous learning.

Hours of Work

• Standard business hours in India (Hybrid model).

Salary Expectation

For a QA Team Lead in Karnataka with 7+ years of experience, expected salary ranges between ₹20 LPA – ₹32 LPA, depending on expertise in automation frameworks, leadership responsibilities, and performance testing exposure. Candidates with advanced accessibility testing skills and global team collaboration experience may be offered at the higher end.
