Job Description
Amazon is hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer I (QAE I) to join its Tax Services technology team in Karnataka. The team is responsible for building and maintaining Amazonโs global tax calculation platform that computes accurate transactional taxes such as sales tax and VAT for millions of orders across multiple countries. As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that Amazonโs tax calculation systems remain reliable, scalable, and compliant with evolving global tax regulations. This role involves testing highly complex distributed systems that handle millions of requests every minute.
In this role, you will design and execute testing strategies that validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of mission-critical services. The system processes massive datasets and ensures accurate tax calculations during order processing. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed test plans, designing test cases, validating APIs, and performing automation testing to maintain system reliability. By understanding both application functionality and underlying code structures, you will contribute to improving product quality across the entire software lifecycle.
Additionally, the Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with software developers, product managers, and engineering teams to identify bugs, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system performance. You will build automated testing frameworks and execute both manual and automated tests across different layers of the application. This role offers exposure to large-scale distributed systems, high-performance platforms, and advanced automation testing environments used by one of the worldโs largest technology companies.
Roles & Responsibilities

Design and implement comprehensive test strategies to validate complex distributed systems and high-scale applications.

Create detailed test plans, test cases, and testing scenarios to ensure complete functional and performance coverage.

Execute manual and automated tests to verify application functionality, system stability, and user-level interactions.

Perform UI testing and API testing using automation tools such as Selenium and SOAPUI.

Develop automated test scripts and frameworks to improve testing efficiency and reduce manual testing efforts.

Debug system issues by analyzing logs, identifying root causes, and collaborating with development teams.

Validate system performance under high loads to ensure reliability for large-scale production environments.

Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, contributing to sprint planning, testing cycles, and release validation.

Track defects, document test results, and report testing progress to stakeholders and engineering teams.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that software releases meet Amazonโs high quality standards.
Requirements & Eligibility

Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical field.

Minimum 1 year of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or automation testing.

Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and QA methodologies.

Hands-on experience with manual testing and automation testing tools.

Experience performing UI testing and API testing using tools such as Selenium and SOAPUI.

Proficiency in scripting or programming languages such as Java or similar languages for test automation.

Strong analytical and debugging skills for identifying issues in complex software systems.

Experience working in Agile or Scrum development environments.

Ability to design effective test conditions, test scripts, and test datasets for complex systems.
