Job Description

Autodesk is hiring a Software Engineer (C++, CAD) for its Fusion organization in Pune, Maharashtra. This opportunity is designed for software engineers who enjoy solving complex engineering problems and want to work on advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software used by professionals across design and manufacturing industries. As part of the Autodesk Fusion engineering team, you will contribute to production-grade desktop applications that support parametric modeling, geometric design, and modern design-to-manufacturing workflows. The role combines strong C++ programming, object-oriented software engineering, computational geometry, and modern development practices to build reliable and high-performance features. Engineers will also work with AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining strong standards for code quality, security, performance, and maintainability.

In this position, you will take ownership of software features throughout the development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation to testing, deployment, debugging, and ongoing maintenance. You will apply modern C++, C++ Standard Library (STL), data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and computational geometry to solve technically challenging problems within a CAD environment. The role involves developing and optimizing geometry-intensive capabilities where performance, accuracy, scalability, and reliability are essential. You will also use AI-assisted development platforms such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude for activities including code generation, refactoring, debugging, test creation, documentation, and technical exploration. Every AI-generated output must be carefully reviewed and validated using sound engineering judgment.

As a member of a Pune-based Scrum team, you will collaborate closely with product managers, experience designers, quality engineers, and globally distributed development teams to deliver customer-focused Autodesk Fusion capabilities. You will participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, estimation, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives while contributing to technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, maintainable software features for Autodesk Fusion using object-oriented C++, modern programming practices, design patterns, and established engineering standards.
• Develop production-quality CAD capabilities involving parametric modeling, geometry processing, geometric workflows, and design-to-manufacturing functionality while maintaining accuracy and application performance.
• Apply computational geometry and geometric modeling principles to develop robust solutions for technically complex and mathematically intensive CAD applications.
• Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude for planning, coding, debugging, refactoring, test generation, and documentation while carefully validating generated results.
• Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and reliability, using manual engineering analysis whenever automated assistance is insufficient.
• Take complete ownership of assigned features and components, covering technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, production support, and continuous enhancement.
• Write, test, review, debug, and maintain high-quality software throughout the Software Development Life Cycle while following coding standards and engineering best practices.
• Investigate software defects, performance bottlenecks, crashes, and production issues, identify root causes, and implement reliable solutions that improve application stability.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Experience Design, Quality Assurance, and engineering teams to understand customer requirements and deliver effective Fusion product capabilities.
• Participate actively in Scrum and Agile activities including sprint planning, estimation, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation covering software architecture, design decisions, implementation details, development practices, and feature behavior.
• Share effective AI-assisted development techniques, technical knowledge, and engineering practices with teammates while contributing to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and responsible technology adoption.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 2 years of professional software development experience, preferably involving desktop applications, engineering software, CAD products, geometry processing, or other technically complex applications.
• Strong proficiency in C++, including object-oriented programming, modern C++ practices, memory management concepts, STL, reusable software design, and maintainable coding techniques.
• Strong knowledge of fundamental computer science concepts including data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, computational problem-solving, and software engineering principles.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted software development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude, along with the ability to review and validate AI-generated code responsibly.
• Working knowledge of CAD concepts, computational geometry, geometric modeling, computer graphics, or mathematically intensive software development is important for successfully handling the technical requirements of the position.
• Familiarity with Git and Jira or similar source control and project management platforms, including collaborative development workflows, issue tracking, code reviews, and Agile project management.
• Strong programming, debugging, analytical reasoning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex software behavior and develop reliable technical solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively with engineers, designers, product managers, QA teams, and other stakeholders.
• Preferred exposure to Autodesk Fusion or similar CAD applications, cross-platform development for Windows/macOS/Linux, APIs, SDKs, Qt, CMake, and Python can provide an additional advantage.

Expected Salary

For a Software Engineer (C++, CAD) with 2+ years of experience in Pune, a realistic estimated compensation range can be considered around ₹12 LPA to ₹24 LPA, depending on C++ expertise, CAD or computational geometry experience, relevant project background, technical interview performance, and overall professional experience. Specialized experience in CAD software, C++ desktop applications, geometry engines, or performance-intensive engineering software can place candidates toward the upper end of the range.

Autodesk's overall compensation structure may include base salary along with additional components such as annual cash incentives, stock grants where applicable, and employee benefits. The final package can vary according to experience, job level, geographic location, and the candidate's qualifications.
