Barclays is seeking a highly skilled Senior Synthetics QA Automation Developer to join its Markets Pre-Trade technology team in Pune. The Senior QA Automation Developer will design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks that support both backend and user interface testing. This role requires strong proficiency in Java-based automation tools and frameworks such as JUnit and Cucumber. The developer will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to integrate automated testing into the software development lifecycle. By ensuring high test coverage and efficient testing pipelines, the developer helps maintain application performance, system reliability, and data accuracy across critical financial platforms.

In addition to automation development, the role involves contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives across the technology organization. The developer will perform functional, regression, integration, and API testing while ensuring adherence to secure coding and testing practices. Working within Agile environments, the engineer will also use tools such as JIRA for defect tracking and workflow management. Roles & Responsibilities

1. Design and develop automated testing frameworks using Java to support both backend and user interface testing for complex financial technology systems.

2. Create, execute, and maintain automated test scripts that validate application functionality, system performance, and integration across multiple platforms.

3. Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps teams to integrate automation testing into the software development lifecycle.

4. Perform different types of software testing including functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, and smoke testing to ensure application reliability.

5. Write SQL queries to validate test data, verify database transactions, and ensure data accuracy within financial systems.

6. Execute Unix commands to analyze logs, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot technical issues in development and testing environments.

7. Use tools such as JIRA for defect tracking, test case management, and Agile workflow coordination within development teams.

8. Perform API testing using industry tools and frameworks to ensure seamless communication between microservices and application components.

9. Participate in code reviews and collaborate with peers to maintain high standards of software quality, reliability, and maintainability.

10. Stay updated with emerging technologies in fintech, automation testing, and software development to contribute to innovation within the organization.

Requirements & Eligibility

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

2. Strong programming expertise in Java with hands-on experience in building automated testing frameworks and automation scripts.

3. Experience working with test automation frameworks such as JUnit, Cucumber, or similar tools for automated testing.

4. Understanding of the software testing lifecycle and quality assurance methodologies including functional, regression, integration, and smoke testing.

5. Knowledge of SQL for querying databases, validating test data, and preparing test datasets.

6. Familiarity with Unix or Linux command-line environments for log analysis and troubleshooting.

7. Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools such as JIRA for defect tracking and project management.

8. Exposure to API testing tools and techniques such as REST-based testing frameworks.

9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex issues across multiple systems.

10. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional technology and business teams.
