Job Description

Virtusa is hiring a Senior Automation API Tester to strengthen its Digital Quality Assurance team in Bangalore. This role is designed for experienced professionals who can ensure the quality, scalability, and reliability of enterprise applications through advanced automation strategies. As a Tier 2 QA professional, you will work closely with developers, product owners, and other QA specialists to design, implement, and maintain automation frameworks that guarantee high-quality software delivery.

In this position, you will lead test initiatives with a strong focus on API automation, regression testing, and CI/CD pipeline integration. Leveraging tools such as Selenium, Postman, and the BDD Cucumber framework, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth validation of complex systems. Your expertise in programming languages such as Java or Groovy will help you build robust and reusable automation scripts, while your knowledge of software testing methodologies will ensure comprehensive test coverage across multiple layers of the product.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product teams to ensure quality standards are met across the SDLC.

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and test scripts for APIs, UI, and backend systems.

• Implement automation using tools like BDD Cucumber, Selenium, and Postman to validate system functionality.

• Develop and maintain CI/CD-integrated test suites to support continuous testing and rapid releases.

• Perform detailed analysis of test cases, identify issues, and work with development teams for timely resolution.

• Create and execute regression, integration, and performance test plans for new and existing features.

• Mentor junior QA engineers and share best practices for automation and defect prevention.

• Actively participate in agile ceremonies, providing valuable insights on quality improvements and system behavior.

• Monitor, analyze, and report QA metrics to stakeholders for better decision-making and process improvement.

• Ensure proper documentation of test strategies, frameworks, and results to maintain long-term project quality.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Minimum of 6+ years of QA experience, with a strong focus on automation testing.

• Solid understanding of testing methodologies, software development lifecycle, and agile practices.

• Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Postman, and the BDD Cucumber framework.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java or Groovy for automation scripting.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex automation issues.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.

• Familiarity with performance testing tools and cloud-based testing environments is an added advantage.

• Ability to manage priorities in fast-paced, large-scale enterprise projects.

Expected Salary

A Senior Automation API Tester in Bangalore with 6+ years of experience can expect a salary in the range of ₹12 LPA to ₹20 LPA, depending on expertise, certifications, and project experience. Candidates with proven API automation and CI/CD experience are often offered packages at the higher end of this range.
