Job Description

As a Senior Automation Test Engineer at Luxoft, you will play a pivotal role in building, maintaining, and optimizing advanced automation frameworks that drive the company’s testing operations worldwide. This role is all about engineering excellence — you’ll design scalable, reliable test systems that help deliver robust software across complex microservices environments. In this position, you’ll collaborate with architects, developers, and DevOps engineers to create efficient, cloud-ready automation pipelines for Java-based microservices deployed on Azure Kubernetes clusters. You will design end-to-end automated tests, ensuring maximum coverage of REST APIs, Kafka-based systems, and PostgreSQL databases. Roles & Responsibilities

• Take complete ownership of QA activities within an agile Scrum team, ensuring all testing deliverables are of the highest quality.

• Design, implement, and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, and REST API testing tools to achieve comprehensive coverage.

• Analyze business and technical requirements, identifying potential risks, gaps, and dependencies early in the development cycle.

• Develop detailed test cases and strategies for functional, regression, and performance testing to ensure system reliability.

• Conduct manual and automated testing of REST APIs, microservices, and backend systems with precision and accuracy.

• Collaborate closely with developers, DevOps engineers, and product owners to align testing activities with release timelines.

• Manage test documentation, including test plans, test results, and release certifications, ensuring traceability and compliance.

• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Azure DevOps to enable continuous quality validation.

• Apply “Shift Left” testing principles to detect defects early and improve delivery efficiency across the project lifecycle.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior testers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and proactive problem-solving.

• Continuously research new testing tools, frameworks, and best practices to enhance automation capabilities and maintain competitive advantage.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in manual and automation testing, preferably in backend or microservices environments.

• Strong expertise in test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or similar tools for API and service-level testing.

• Proficiency in Python (preferred) or Java for scripting, test development, and framework customization.

• Solid understanding of REST APIs, Kafka topics, and distributed systems architecture to design effective automated scenarios.

• Familiarity with DevOps tools including GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud platforms such as Azure.

• Strong grasp of database concepts (PostgreSQL preferred), with the ability to validate backend data integrity.

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and proven experience participating in full project lifecycles within Scrum teams.

• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills, ensuring clear and concise reporting of test results.

• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to identifying process improvements.

• Desirable: exposure to infrastructure automation, message queues (MQs), and containerized applications to support advanced testing environments.

Expected Salary

The expected salary for a Senior Automation Test Engineer at Luxoft in Pune typically ranges between ₹15 LPA and ₹25 LPA, depending on your experience, technical expertise, and proficiency with advanced automation frameworks.
