About the Role

Citi is seeking a skilled and passionate Selenium Automation Engineer to join our dynamic technology team in Pune. In this hybrid role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automated test frameworks for UI and API layers, ensuring high-quality software delivery. You will work closely with developers, product managers, and QA peers to implement BDD-driven automation, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, and foster a culture of quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable automation frameworks for UI and API testing.

  • Write test scenarios using Gherkin syntax (Given/When/Then) within Cucumber for Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).

  • Automate RESTful API testing, ensuring functionality, data integrity, and performance validation.

  • Build and execute UI test suites using Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, or JUnit to validate user flows and application stability.

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) to enable rapid feedback and early defect detection.

  • Collaborate with developers, product owners, and DevOps teams to define testing strategies and ensure quality at every stage of development.

  • Execute test suites, analyze results, document defects, and report on coverage and quality metrics.

  • Advocate for automation best practices, TDD (Test-Driven Development) and BDD, and mentor team members in automation techniques.

  • Support production troubleshooting efforts by leveraging test frameworks and automation expertise.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as an Automation QA Engineer or similar role.

  • Strong expertise in Selenium WebDriver, Java, and UI automation frameworks (TestNG/JUnit).

  • Hands-on experience with Cucumber and writing feature files using Gherkin syntax.

  • Proven experience in REST API test automation, including understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, and data formats (JSON/XML).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline integration and version control systems (Git).

  • Deep understanding of software testing methodologies and quality assurance best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in agile teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Working knowledge of other programming languages (Python, JavaScript).

  • Exposure to performance testing and security testing principles.

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).

  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS or Openshift.

  • Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed system testing.

  • Experience using Jira, Zephyr or other defect/test management tools.
