SAP – Python Automation Engineer (Cloud)

Job Description:
SAP, a global leader in enterprise application software and cloud technology, is seeking a highly skilled Python Automation Engineer to join its Quality Assurance team in Pune. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated tests for SAP HANA Cloud, SAP IQ databases, and other SAP database technologies. By leveraging your expertise in Python, Shell scripting, Unix, and SQL, you will ensure that SAP products meet the highest standards of quality, stability, and performance. Your contributions will help optimize testing processes, enhance automation frameworks, and ensure robust validation of complex database systems across global deployments.

The role involves end-to-end involvement in the software quality lifecycle, including test planning, automation strategy, execution, and failure analysis. You will collaborate with global product teams to ensure test coverage aligns with feature design and delivery goals, while continuously improving automation frameworks to enhance reliability and scalability. By identifying issues, reproducing complex database problems, and providing actionable insights, you will play a critical role in improving SAP’s database solutions and ensuring seamless performance for millions of users worldwide.

As a Python Automation Engineer at SAP, you will work closely with cross-functional teams across geographies to drive improvements in testing processes, automation best practices, and overall product quality. Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes, will enable you to integrate automated testing into modern development workflows. Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python and Shell scripting for SAP database technologies.

2. Perform end-to-end quality assurance across SAP HANA Cloud, SAP IQ databases, and related software components.

3. Execute test planning, test automation, and test execution for complex database modules at scale.

4. Reproduce, analyze, and provide solutions for database engine issues reported internally or by customers.

5. Work closely with global product teams to ensure test coverage and delivery quality meet project objectives.

6. Develop and enhance advanced automated test frameworks and suites to improve reliability and scalability.

7. Conduct performance, stability, and regression testing for SAP database products.

8. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes.

9. Maintain detailed test documentation and contribute to QA process improvement initiatives.

10. Collaborate in Agile environments, taking ownership of tasks and promoting knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

2. 3–6 years of experience in software quality assurance, with strong emphasis on test automation.

3. Proficiency in Python and Shell scripting, with experience in Unix-based environments.

4. Strong understanding of SQL and experience validating database operations and data integrity.

5. Hands-on experience in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP and related cloud testing practices.

6. Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Gerrit, Docker, and Kubernetes.

7. Solid knowledge of software QA principles, test methodologies, and automation best practices.

8. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.

9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams globally.

10. Agile mindset, self-empowerment, and ownership of responsibilities in fast-paced cloud environments.

Expected Salary:
For a Python Automation Engineer with 3–6 years of experience in Pune, India, the expected salary typically ranges from ₹10,00,000 to ₹18,00,000 per annum. Candidates with advanced cloud expertise, database automation experience, or SAP certifications may command higher compensation.
