Job Description:
The Test Automation Manager at Mastercard plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of the company’s Priceless Platform, a cutting-edge digital commerce solution used by millions worldwide. This role blends leadership with hands-on technical expertise, offering the unique opportunity to drive the adoption of test automation and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices across complex, high-visibility projects. You will lead a talented team of QA engineers, guiding them through functional automation, performance testing, and cloud-native application testing, while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.

In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, enabling faster and more reliable software delivery. Your responsibilities will include architecting automation frameworks, developing performance and load testing strategies, and implementing infrastructure automation practices. By leveraging tools and platforms like AWS, cloud-based provisioning, monitoring, logging, and alerting systems, you will ensure that Mastercard’s applications meet the highest standards of security, performance, and availability.

Beyond technical execution, the Test Automation Manager will drive cultural and organizational excellence. You will mentor and coach team members, promote shared ownership of quality, and develop playbooks for incident response, disaster recovery, and post-mortem analyses. By translating business requirements into robust technical solutions, you will play a key role in scaling Mastercard’s platform globally without compromising quality, reliability, or user experience. Roles & Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage a team of 5+ QA engineers, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance feedback.

  2. Hands-on implementor in test automation, performance testing, functional automation, test data management, and infrastructure automation.

  3. Collaborate with test automation engineers to share best practices, conduct code reviews, and ensure high-quality technical outputs.

  4. Participate in technical design discussions to ensure testability, reliability, and security considerations are incorporated early.

  5. Implement SRE practices, including chaos engineering, progressive rollouts, observability, and DevOps collaboration.

  6. Shape application performance and scalability through comprehensive load and stress testing strategies.

  7. Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines that integrate testing frameworks for continuous quality assurance.

  8. Create and manage incident response playbooks, disaster recovery plans, and post-mortem analysis procedures.

  9. Monitor, log, and alert production systems to maintain end-to-end observability and operational excellence.

  10. Continuously explore and implement emerging technologies to improve SRE and test automation practices.

  11. Manage test environments, test data, and infrastructure provisioning to support robust testing coverage.

  12. Participate in on-call rotations for critical production systems to ensure reliability and timely issue resolution.

Requirements & Eligibility:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.

  2. 9+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on Test Automation, Mobile Automation, and distributed application testing.

  3. Proven experience delivering complex technical solutions in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

  4. Hands-on expertise in cloud platforms, particularly AWS, including deployment, security, and infrastructure automation.

  5. Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, code quality metrics, and performance testing.

  6. Familiarity with software development productivity metrics, such as code churn, test coverage, and commit sizes.

  7. Skilled in automation/configuration management, progressive release strategies, and high-availability logging/monitoring practices.

  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across global teams.

  9. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, guide, and inspire engineers while promoting a culture of quality and shared ownership.

  10. Experience with incident management, disaster recovery planning, and developing operational playbooks for critical systems.
