Job Description

As a Software Engineer II (Quality) at Mastercard, you will be a key contributor to building and safeguarding world-class digital payment and data platforms used across 200+ countries. This role sits within the Business Intelligence platform of Mastercard’s Data & Services organization, a team known for delivering data-driven insights, advanced risk solutions, and high-impact services for global customers. You will combine manual testing expertise with modern automation, AI, and cloud testing practices to ensure software solutions meet the highest standards of quality, security, and performance.

In this role, you will work across the entire quality engineering lifecycle, validating complex web applications, APIs, and data-intensive systems. You will design and execute robust test strategies that cover functional correctness, regression stability, scalability, and cloud reliability. By leveraging automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and performance testing tools, you will help accelerate delivery while maintaining strong quality gates. Your work will directly influence platform resilience and customer trust in Mastercard’s technology ecosystem.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive manual and automated test cases for web applications, APIs, and backend systems.

• Validate new features and regression scenarios using automation frameworks to ensure consistent quality across releases.

• Perform performance, scalability, and reliability testing for cloud-based applications and services.

• Write, optimize, and execute complex SQL queries to validate large datasets and data processing logic.

• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and architects to ensure quality is embedded throughout the SDLC.

• Implement, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and faster feedback cycles.

• Participate actively in Agile and SAFe ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

• Analyze test results, identify defects, and communicate issues clearly with actionable recommendations.

• Support API testing for REST and SOAP services, ensuring correctness, security, and performance.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of quality processes, automation frameworks, and testing strategies.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or a related discipline.

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software testing with a balanced focus on manual and automation testing.

• ISTQB certification demonstrating strong fundamentals in software testing principles and practices.

• Proficiency in Java or Python, with hands-on experience using Selenium, Cucumber, and REST API testing tools.

• Strong SQL skills with the ability to design, debug, and validate complex queries and datasets.

• Experience with performance testing and validating cloud-based applications for scalability and reliability.

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Maven.

• Hands-on experience working in Agile or SAFe development environments.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to work effectively with technical stakeholders.

• Self-driven mindset with attention to detail and the ability to work independently under tight timelines.
