Job Description:

Mastercard is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II (QA) to join its Business Intelligence platform team within the Data & Services division in Pune. This role is designed for quality engineering professionals who possess strong expertise in both manual and automation testing. Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Design, develop, and execute comprehensive manual and automated test cases for web applications, REST/SOAP APIs, and backend database systems to ensure high product quality and performance.

2. Build and enhance automation frameworks using Selenium, Cucumber, and Java/Python to support regression testing and continuous delivery pipelines.

3. Perform API testing and validate integrations between microservices, ensuring seamless communication and data accuracy across distributed systems.

4. Conduct performance and scalability testing for cloud-based applications, identifying bottlenecks and recommending optimization strategies.

5. Write and optimize complex SQL queries to validate large datasets, ensuring data accuracy and business intelligence reporting reliability.

6. Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams during sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to embed quality-first thinking into every development phase.

7. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Maven to support automated testing in continuous integration environments.

8. Analyze defects, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings effectively to development teams for timely resolution.

9. Ensure compliance with Mastercard’s corporate security policies, maintaining data confidentiality and reporting any potential security risks.

10. Contribute to process improvements by recommending new tools, automation strategies, and quality engineering best practices aligned with industry standards.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.

2. 3–5 years of hands-on experience in software testing, covering both manual testing and automation testing in enterprise environments.

3. Strong programming proficiency in Java or Python, with practical experience building test scripts and automation frameworks using Selenium and Cucumber.

4. Solid experience in REST API testing, including validation of request/response payloads, authentication mechanisms, and integration workflows.

5. Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write, debug, and optimize complex queries for validating structured and semi-structured datasets.

6. Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Maven to enable automated builds and test executions.

7. Familiarity with performance testing tools and cloud-based application testing methodologies to ensure system scalability and resilience.

8. ISTQB certification is preferred, demonstrating a strong foundation in software testing principles and quality assurance standards.

9. Experience in Agile or SAFe frameworks, with active participation in sprint ceremonies and collaborative development environments.

10. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently in high-pressure environments.
