Role Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer Test (SDET) at Mastercard, you will be responsible for designing test automation strategies, building automation frameworks, and validating system integrations within Agile teams. This role combines strong automation expertise, quality engineering practices, and Agile/DevOps exposure to ensure Mastercard’s digital products meet the highest standards of functionality, scalability, and security.

You will be a key member of the SCRUM team, contributing to test planning, automation design, exploratory testing, and CI/CD quality gates, while mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement across the testing lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a pivotal quality owner in Agile teams, validating web applications, APIs, and system integrations.

• Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and test scripts for API and UI testing.

• Collaborate with business and development teams to define test plans, strategies, and schedules.

• Translate complex system requirements into test scenarios and validation methods.

• Refactor and optimize automation code for efficiency and scalability.

• Partner with developers to ensure shift-left testing, requirement coverage, and configuration quality.

• Generate and manage test data, environment preparation, and execution of automated suites.

• Conduct performance testing, validation, and reporting.

• Participate in reviews, walkthroughs, and inspections for requirements, test plans, and automation coverage.

• Implement automation tests in CI/CD pipelines for quality gates.

• Conduct exploratory testing and defect triaging as needed.

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.

• Drive process improvements and contribute to Agile ceremonies.

Skills & Requirements

Core Qualifications:

• Strong experience in test automation frameworks and advanced coding skills (Java, Python, or equivalent).

• Hands-on expertise in UI and API test automation.

• Experience in Agile testing methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.

• Proven track record of designing automation strategies, test execution, and code reviews.

• Familiarity with exploratory testing and performance validation.

• Knowledge of unit, integration testing, and debugging techniques.

• Ability to mentor peers and act as a technical leader within the team.

Salary Expectation

For Pune-based candidates, Mastercard typically offers a salary in the range of ₹18,00,000 – ₹25,00,000 per annum, depending on experience in automation frameworks, Agile/DevOps, and cloud-native testing expertise.
