πŸ” About the Role – Lead Software Quality Engineer

We are looking for a Lead Software Quality Engineer to join Mastercard’s innovative Cross Border Payments team, part of the Disbursement & Remittances division. This team is focused on building real-time, any-to-any payment solutions to enable individuals and businesses to send or receive money via banks, fintechs, cards, wallets, or remittance agents β€” anywhere in the world.

As a Lead Software Quality Engineer, you'll take charge of quality assurance at scale, design automated testing frameworks, and ensure delivery of high-performing, reliable software solutions. This role is ideal for a senior QA engineer passionate about automation, agile methodologies, and scalable test strategy design.


πŸ’Ό Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in test planning, creation of test data, and execution of test plans adhering to Mastercard's quality standards.

  • Design and develop automated testing frameworks for APIs, UI components, and database/ETL validations.

  • Analyze complex system requirements and convert them into scalable test strategies.

  • Perform exploratory manual testing and develop scripts to automate regression and functional tests.

  • Lead defect tracking, test reporting, and escalate quality issues as needed.

  • Work closely with development and business stakeholders to ensure software meets functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Drive performance testing strategies and execute performance validation using tools like JMeter/Blazemeter.

  • Mentor and guide junior QA engineers; promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.

  • Maintain robust documentation following Mastercard’s development and QA best practices.

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and test integration using Git, Jenkins, Maven, etc.

  • Participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies, ensuring test coverage aligns with sprint deliverables.

  • Conduct demos and knowledge-sharing sessions on product features and quality assurance best practices.


βœ… Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.

  • 8+ years in software quality engineering with strong focus on test automation and quality best practices.

  • Hands-on experience in:

    • Java, Selenium, Cucumber

    • SoapUI, REST, JSON, Spring Framework

    • SQL (complex query writing across large datasets)

    • API Testing (REST/SOAP), UI testing, and report validation

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git/BitBucket), and build tools like Maven.

  • Strong understanding of Agile/SAFe methodologies and experience working in agile teams.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Passion for learning new technologies and championing automation-first approaches.

  • Exposure to Data Engineering or Data Analysis is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently in high-pressure environments and tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to lead cross-functional testing initiatives.
