Birlasoft: Associate Director – Testing

Job Description:
Birlasoft, a global leader in Cloud, AI, and Digital transformation, is seeking an experienced Associate Director – Testing to lead its Testing Practice and Center of Excellence (CoE). This is a strategic leadership position responsible for driving the overall testing strategy, building reusable solutions, managing senior stakeholders, and ensuring excellence in testing delivery across global projects.

You will play a critical role in aligning testing initiatives with business objectives, leading pre-sales solutioning efforts, building high-performing testing teams, and implementing industry-leading automation and test data management practices. This position requires a mix of strong technical expertise, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement skills to scale Birlasoft’s testing capabilities as a competitive advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Pre-Sales & Solutioning:

• Analyze RFPs, RFIs, and customer requirements to identify strategic win themes.

• Collaborate with solution teams to create compelling proposals, SoWs, and estimations.

• Coordinate with Testing HBU solution teams to deliver POCs and demos.

• Manage demand pipeline and publish weekly RFP/RFI/Proposal reports.

• Actively engage with delivery teams for proactive business development initiatives.

2. Senior Stakeholder Management:

• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand business objectives and testing requirements.

• Define and enforce enterprise-wide testing standards, especially in automation and test data management.

• Communicate testing strategies, quality metrics, and progress updates to leadership teams.

3. Business Opportunity Identification:

• Identify new business opportunities and emerging trends in software testing.

• Conduct market and competitor analysis to enhance Birlasoft’s testing portfolio.

• Develop strategies to leverage testing as a revenue growth driver.

4. Testing CoE Leadership:

• Define and implement testing methodologies, frameworks, and best practices.

• Build and lead a Testing Center of Excellence (CoE) focusing on innovation, reusability, and continuous improvement.

• Mentor and upskill teams on modern testing approaches, automation, and performance engineering.

5. Automation & Test Data Management:

• Drive adoption of automation tools (e.g., Selenium, TOSCA, Appium, Cucumber) to optimize test execution.

• Develop a comprehensive test data management strategy for reliable and secure test environments.

• Evaluate and implement new tools to support test efficiency and scalability.

6. Test Delivery & Quality Assurance:

• Oversee end-to-end test delivery, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality metrics.

• Collaborate with project teams to design test strategies, plans, and test cases.

• Monitor results, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements & Eligibility:

• 18+ years of proven experience in software testing and quality engineering, with leadership in managing enterprise-scale testing programs.

• Strong experience in test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, TOSCA, Appium, and Cucumber.

• Expertise in performance testing, test data management, and continuous testing methodologies.

• Experience in setting up and managing a Testing CoE.

• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

• Strategic thinker with a track record of delivering measurable business impact through testing excellence.

Expected Salary:
Compensation for this leadership role is competitive, typically ranging from ₹45 LPA to ₹65 LPA (or higher, based on experience and expertise) with performance-linked bonuses and executive benefits.
