Barclays: Automation Test Engineer

As an Automation Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing test strategies that ensure software functionality, reliability, and performance. This role combines manual and automation expertise and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, contributing to the overall quality and stability of mission-critical systems.

🛠 Responsibilities:

• Design and implement comprehensive manual and automation testing strategies.

• Develop and maintain automated frameworks and test scripts for continuous validation.

• Perform server-side testing including log file analysis, debugging, messaging, and SQL validation.

• Use scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Shell (ksh/bash/sh) for automation and process optimization.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop test cases accordingly.

• Perform root cause analysis on defects and work closely with development teams for resolution.

• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and contribute to improving test methodologies.

• Keep pace with industry trends and new technologies in test automation and DevOps practices.

✅ Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience in manual testing and Java-based automation.

• Proven expertise in developing, maintaining, and executing automated test suites.

• Solid scripting experience (Python, Shell, Perl, etc.)

• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux environments, and ability to analyze logs and debug server-side issues.

• Proficient in SQL and data validation techniques.

Desirable Skills:

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as TeamCity.

• Experience with version control systems like GIT.

• Exposure to Maven or similar build automation tools.

• Working knowledge of JIRA for issue and test management.
