Automation Lead Tester – Mobile Applications

Job Description:
We are looking for a highly experienced Automation Lead Tester to lead end-to-end automation testing efforts for mobile applications. This is a senior-level role where you will be responsible for strategizing, designing, and implementing robust automation frameworks to ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software products.

The role demands hands-on expertise in Appium, Selenium, TestNG, and other mobile automation tools, combined with strong programming skills in Java, Python, or C#. As a lead, you will not only create and review automated test cases but also mentor team members, enforce QA best practices, and work closely with development, product, and DevOps teams to achieve seamless releases.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Lead the design, development, and execution of automated test cases for mobile applications.

2. Define and implement test strategies, test plans, and test cases for functional and regression testing.

3. Build, maintain, and enhance reusable automation frameworks using Appium, Selenium, TestNG, and other tools.

4. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster feedback loops.

5. Analyze test execution results, identify defects, and collaborate with developers for timely resolution.

6. Review test artifacts created by team members to ensure accuracy, completeness, and maintainability.

7. Provide clear documentation of automation coverage, metrics, and defect trends to stakeholders.

8. Mentor junior QA engineers, sharing best practices for test automation and code quality.

9. Continuously improve automation processes by adopting new tools, libraries, and approaches.

10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Dev, Product, DevOps) to align testing efforts with project timelines.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Experience: Minimum 10 years of overall experience, with at least 5 years in test automation and 2+ years in a lead role.

2. Technical Skills:

   • Hands-on experience with Appium, Selenium, TestNG/JUnit for mobile and web automation.

   • Strong programming knowledge in Java, Python, or C#.

   • Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, and version control systems like Git.

3. Strong understanding of mobile testing concepts, device management, and emulators/simulators.

4. Good knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail).

5. Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.

6. Strong communication and leadership skills to manage stakeholders and guide QA teams.

7. Certification in Automation Testing is required (ISTQB Advanced, Selenium/Appium certification preferred).

Added Advantage:

• Experience with advanced CI/CD setups and cloud platforms such as AWS Device Farm, BrowserStack, or Sauce Labs.

• Knowledge of performance testing for mobile applications (using JMeter, LoadRunner, etc.).

• Familiarity with security testing and accessibility testing best practices.

Expected Salary:
For a senior-level Automation Lead Tester with 10+ years of experience in Pune, the salary range is typically ₹20,00,000 – ₹30,00,000 per annum, depending on expertise, certifications, and leadership experience. Candidates with extensive exposure to CI/CD integration and advanced automation frameworks can command salaries at the higher end of the range.
