Job Description:
As a QA Tester at Barclays, you will be a crucial part of delivering high-quality software solutions that help power one of the world’s leading financial institutions. In this role, you will participate actively in the entire Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) — from understanding and analysing requirements to planning, execution, defect management, and reporting. You will leverage both manual and automated testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and integrations across multiple workstreams. Your insights will be essential in identifying gaps, tracking defects, and coordinating resolutions through collaboration with technical teams. Furthermore, your work will support continuous improvement by contributing to testing frameworks and best practices within the QA function.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, and risk stakeholders to define testing needs, establish acceptance criteria, and deliver quality outcomes.

2. Lead end-to-end testing activities including requirement analysis, test planning, test case development, execution, and defect reporting, ensuring comprehensive coverage.

3. Perform both manual and automated testing across multiple workstreams, including APIs, user interfaces, and backend components, to validate behaviour and performance.

4. Identify defects, log issues accurately, and work with development teams to prioritise and resolve defects within aggressive sprint cycles.

5. Lead defect triage sessions, track defects through resolution, and communicate testing outcomes and risks effectively to stakeholders.

6. Ensure testing processes adhere to industry standards, risk and control frameworks, and internal best practices, mitigating business and technology risks.

7. Document test strategies, test plans, scripts, and reports with clarity, supporting audit readiness and traceability of results.

8. Drive continuous improvement by evaluating test automation opportunities, recommending enhancements to testing frameworks, and mentoring junior QA resources.

9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging QA tools, industry trends, and regulatory requirements relevant to financial technology testing.

10. Communicate with business and technical leaders to align deliverables with expectations and ensure transparency across all phases of the testing lifecycle.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, demonstrating strong technical foundations.

2. Proven experience in software quality assurance, testing methodologies, tools, and best practices, with hands-on exposure to test automation.

3. Solid understanding of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) including test planning, execution, defect lifecycle management, and reporting.

4. Experience with test automation tools, frameworks, or scripting languages to support scalable automated testing strategies.

5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and quality focus.

6. Effective communication skills — both verbal and written — to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders and present testing outcomes clearly.

7. Ability to manage multiple concurrent testing activities, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

8. Familiarity with risk and control frameworks within financial technology contexts is desirable.

9. Knowledge of quality standards, compliance practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to banking and financial IT systems.

10. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, adaptability, and staying current with emerging QA trends and technological advancements.
