Job Description
Align Technology is seeking an Associate Software Engineer – ServiceNow to join its Digital Workplace Technology & Operations team, where innovation, automation, and employee experience come together. This role is focused on building intelligent, scalable, and future-ready solutions on the ServiceNow platform to enhance internal service delivery. The position goes beyond traditional ServiceNow development by integrating Artificial Intelligence to streamline workflows, improve response accuracy, and modernize how employees interact with enterprise systems. It plays a critical role in supporting Align’s mission of operational excellence and digital transformation.
A key aspect of this role is working with Agentic AI solutions, where autonomous AI agents are designed to handle multi-step tasks, respond to employee queries, and execute actions across platforms. Using tools like Microsoft Copilot Studio, the Associate Software Engineer will help develop conversational experiences that are grounded in approved knowledge sources and aligned with business logic. These AI-powered solutions contribute directly to productivity improvements, faster issue resolution, and a consistent digital workplace experience across the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities

Design and build conversational AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio, configuring topics, trigger phrases, and dialogue flows based on functional and business requirements.

Develop and configure Agent Topics and plugins that allow AI agents to perform actions such as creating incidents, resetting passwords, or retrieving employee information within ServiceNow.

Assist in prompt tuning and refinement to ensure AI responses align with brand tone, safety standards, and organizational policies.

Implement knowledge grounding by connecting AI agents with approved ServiceNow Knowledge Base articles to ensure accurate and reliable responses.

Develop and maintain ServiceNow components including Catalog Items, Flow Designer workflows, and Business Rules to support AI-driven automation.

Build and manage integrations using REST APIs, Microsoft Power Automate flows, and custom connectors between ServiceNow and Microsoft platforms.

Apply retrieval-augmented generation techniques to improve AI accuracy by leveraging internal and external data sources as required.

Write clean, efficient JavaScript or GlideScript code for server-side logic, data processing, and system enhancements.

Monitor AI agent performance, troubleshoot API or integration issues, and resolve defects across ServiceNow and Microsoft ecosystems.

Create detailed technical documentation, including solution designs, architecture diagrams, and user guides for implemented features.
Requirements & Eligibility

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in software development or platform engineering.

Basic understanding of the ServiceNow platform, including familiarity with ITSM or HRSD modules and their core functionalities.

Proficiency in JavaScript with a foundational understanding of REST APIs, including JSON structures and HTTP methods.

Exposure to or strong interest in low-code and no-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, or Copilot Studio.

Ability to analyze problems and break down complex requirements into clear, step-by-step technical workflows.

Familiarity with chatbot or virtual assistant development using tools like ServiceNow Virtual Agent or similar platforms is an advantage.

Understanding of Azure Logic Apps, Microsoft Graph API, or cloud-based integrations is considered a plus.

Awareness of Agile or Scrum development methodologies and experience working in collaborative, sprint-based environments.

Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts and constraints to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Curiosity, adaptability, and a strong desire to learn emerging AI concepts such as RAG, LLMs, and intelligent automation.
