Job Description

Wipro Limited, a global leader in technology services and consulting, is seeking a highly skilled Automation Test Engineer specializing in Microfocus QTP – UFT. This role is ideal for professionals with strong expertise in test automation, functional testing, and quality engineering.

As part of Wipro’s Quality Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining UFT/QTP automation scripts from scratch, executing test plans, and ensuring flawless software delivery. You will also contribute to web service testing, SQL validation, and end-to-end automation across agile-driven projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts in UFT/QTP.

• Create new automation frameworks and enhance existing scripts for scalability.

• Perform functional, regression, integration, and E2E testing.

• Work on web service testing, including REST/SOAP using SoapUI.

• Write complex SQL queries to validate backend data and system integration.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA analysts to ensure full test coverage.

• Participate in agile development processes (Scrum/Kanban), ensuring timely delivery of testing milestones.

• Define positive and negative test scenarios with comprehensive data sets.

• Lead or coordinate automation initiatives, ensuring timely execution and issue resolution.

• Contribute to both manual (20%) and automation testing (80%) as needed.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Experience: 5–8 years in automation and manual testing.

• Mandatory Skills: Hands-on expertise with Microfocus QTP – UFT automation.

• Strong proficiency in SQL, Java, and web service testing (SOAP/REST).

• Familiarity with Selenium automation (added advantage).

• Proven ability to design and execute test plans independently.

• Solid understanding of test automation frameworks and methodologies.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage risks and close out issues.

• Excellent communication and coordination skills to work with cross-functional teams.

• Exposure to Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) is essential.

Expected Salary

The expected salary range for this role is ₹12 LPA – ₹18 LPA in Hyderabad, depending on expertise and experience in UFT/QTP automation. Globally, similar roles average between $90,000 – $120,000 annually. Professionals with additional Selenium and leadership experience may be offered compensation at the higher end of the range.
