Role Overview

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you’ll lead automation testing initiatives for SEEBURGER’s cloud-based integration products. This is a hands-on senior role focused on designing scalable automation frameworks, validating microservices, and ensuring CI/CD-driven test excellence.

You’ll be the quality advocate — bridging development, QA, and DevOps, ensuring that SEEBURGER’s cloud-native solutions (built on Kubernetes and microservices) are robust, performant, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities

🧭 Test Strategy & Planning

  • Define, design, and implement comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and scripts.

  • Develop end-to-end automation frameworks for microservices and cloud platforms.

  • Ensure effective functional, regression, and integration testing coverage.

⚙️ Microservices & API Testing

  • Test microservices for scalability, performance, and reliability.

  • Validate service contracts and inter-service dependencies.

  • Develop and execute API automation using Rest Assured, Postman, or similar tools.

🤖 Automation Development

  • Build and maintain automation frameworks using Java, Selenium, or Playwright.

  • Integrate automation test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Argo CD).

  • Ensure seamless test execution in containerized environments (Kubernetes).

🧪 Manual & Exploratory Testing

  • Conduct exploratory and usability testing where automation isn’t feasible.

  • Identify, document, and verify defects through the development lifecycle.

🚀 Continuous Integration & Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with DevOps, developers, and product teams to align testing goals.

  • Monitor automated test executions and report detailed results and metrics.

  • Contribute to continuous testing improvements and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 10+ years of QA experience (manual + automation).

  • Strong proficiency in Java programming.

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • UI automation (e.g., Selenium, Playwright)

    • API testing (Rest Assured, Postman)

    • Microservices and Kubernetes-based testing

    • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Argo CD)

  • Excellent analytical, debugging, and collaboration skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and a passion for quality engineering.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Performance testing experience using JMeter or Gatling.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms — AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Experience in container orchestration and DevOps environments.
