Job Description
Sasken is hiring an Engineer – Software Test & Release in Chennai to strengthen its Quality Assurance team supporting web and API-based application testing. This entry-level opportunity is designed for engineering graduates who are passionate about manual and automation testing within Agile environments. The role focuses on validating software quality across functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing cycles while gradually building expertise in automation frameworks such as Karate for API testing and Playwright for UI automation. It is an excellent opportunity for freshers and early-career professionals to establish a strong foundation in software testing and release management processes.
As a Test Engineer, you will collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and senior QA professionals to ensure defect-free product releases. You will contribute to test planning, design structured test cases, execute automated scripts, and analyze test results for continuous improvement. Working in an Agile/Scrum environment, you will actively participate in sprint ceremonies and adapt to evolving requirements. This role emphasizes hands-on learning, disciplined execution, and continuous skill development in test automation, CI/CD awareness, and version control practices—making it an ideal starting point for a long-term career in Quality Assurance and Software Testing.
Roles & Responsibilities

Understand business requirements and functional specifications to contribute effectively to test planning and quality validation activities.

Perform manual testing activities including functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing to ensure application reliability.

Design, execute, and maintain detailed test cases while documenting results and reporting observations accurately.

Assist in developing and executing API automation scripts using Karate to validate backend services and integrations.

Support UI automation efforts using Playwright or similar tools to ensure seamless front-end functionality.

Execute automated test suites, analyze failures, and provide clear feedback for issue resolution.

Log, track, and retest defects using standard defect tracking tools, ensuring proper lifecycle management.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align quality objectives with sprint deliverables.

Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to maintain transparency.

Continuously upgrade testing skills and explore new QA tools, automation frameworks, and CI/CD practices.
Requirements & Eligibility

Engineering graduate (BE/B.Tech), MCA, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline.

0–2 years of experience in manual and/or automation testing with strong knowledge of SDLC and STLC concepts.

Hands-on exposure or academic project experience in manual testing methodologies and test case design techniques.

Basic understanding of API automation using Karate framework and familiarity with RESTful services testing.

Introductory experience with Playwright or similar UI automation tools for web application testing.

Knowledge of defect lifecycle management and familiarity with defect tracking systems.

Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative development environments.

Basic programming or scripting knowledge in Java or JavaScript to support automation activities.

Exposure to Git or other version control systems and awareness of CI/CD automation pipelines is advantageous.

ISTQB Foundation Level (CTFL) or beginner-level automation certification is considered a plus.
