Job Description

The Application Engineer role at Emerson offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of Shutdown, Turnaround & Outage (STO) operations. In this position, you will act as a pivotal link between customers and internal teams, providing turnkey solutions for valve engagements. This role directly contributes to enhancing customer outcomes and operational efficiency in complex industrial processes.

As part of your responsibilities, you will respond promptly to STO inquiries, provide detailed product datasheets, and recommend optimal solutions, including spare parts, replacement valves, and displacement valves. You will also support Management of Change (MOC) processes, ensuring all communications, documentation, and deliverables meet the highest standards. By leveraging your technical knowledge, analytical skills, and process understanding, you will enable faster conversion of quotes into operational execution while maintaining accuracy and quality.

This position also emphasizes innovation and process improvement. You will develop training materials, create process automation tools, and support the sales team in highlighting key differentiators between existing installations and new offerings. The role provides exposure to ERP systems, inventory planning, and technical sales strategies, offering a holistic view of how technical expertise drives business success in industrial applications.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to customer STO inquiries via phone, email, and chat, providing quotes for spare parts, replacement valves, and displacement valves.

• Support Management of Change (MOC) processes by providing datasheets, technical documentation, and competitive insights on Emerson products.

• Collaborate with Sales to highlight key differentiations between current installations and new offerings.

• Develop training materials to help internal teams understand competitor displacement opportunities and optimize customer engagement.

• Create process automation tools to improve speed and efficiency in STO quoting activities.

• Evaluate inventory levels in ERP systems to provide accurate lead time estimates and ensure timely conversion to operations teams.

• Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, issues, and resolutions to facilitate reporting and continuous improvement.

• Meet and exceed performance metrics such as response time, quote delivery timelines, and customer satisfaction.

• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Manager to support operational objectives.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, or relevant technical discipline. A technical qualification in mechanical engineering is highly desirable.

• Experience: Freshers or professionals with prior experience in a similar application or technical support role.

• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial valves, pressure relief systems, and mechanical concepts.

• Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably ERP systems such as SAP. Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform is a plus.

• Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and mathematical skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders effectively.

• Soft Skills: Self-motivated, proactive, able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.

• Customer Focus: Ability to prioritize customer needs, deliver timely solutions, and maintain high-quality standards.
