Citi: QA Engineer – Data Testing & Automation

Job Overview:

As a QA Engineer – Data Testing & Automation at Citi, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and integrity of Citi’s data pipelines, data warehousing solutions, and reporting systems. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, encompassing both manual and automated testing, to validate data transformations, quality, and integrity throughout the ETL processes.

Collaborating closely with data engineers, developers, and business analysts, you will ensure that data processing meets the highest standards and end-user requirements. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex data testing assignments, identify defects, perform root cause analyses, and implement process improvements to enhance testing strategies.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Data Testing: Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for data validation, transformation, and loading processes. Perform in-depth data analysis and validation using SQL and other data analysis tools. Validate data integrity, accuracy, and completeness across various data sources and systems.

2. Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for data testing using Python or other scripting languages. Automate data validation checks, ETL processes, and data quality rules. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

3. Manual Testing: Perform manual testing of data-related functionalities, including data entry, reporting, and dashboards. Execute exploratory testing to uncover hidden defects and edge cases.

4. Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with data engineers, developers, and business analysts to understand data requirements and testing needs. Communicate test results, defects, and risks clearly and concisely.

5. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of testing strategies and methodologies.

6. Compliance: Ensure adherence to Citi’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct, and business practices.

Requirements & Eligibility:

1. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in software quality assurance, with a strong focus on data testing.

2. Technical Skills:

   • Proficiency in SQL for writing complex queries and performing back-end testing.

   • Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java).

   • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data quality tools.

3. Testing Skills:

   • Strong understanding of test planning, test case creation, and test execution.

   • Experience in both functional and non-functional testing.

   • Knowledge of defect tracking and resolution processes.

4. Collaboration Skills:

   • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and improve product quality.

   • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with data engineers, developers, and business analysts.

5. Continuous Improvement:

   • Commitment to staying updated with the latest testing tools, methodologies, and best practices.

   • Proactive in identifying areas for improvement in the automation testing framework.

6. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Expected Salary:

The expected salary for the QA Engineer – Data Testing & Automation role at Citi India ranges between ₹12,00,000 and ₹18,00,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
