Capgemini is hiring a Functional Testing Engineer to join its Quality Engineering & Testing team in Chennai. This role focuses on delivering high-quality automation and functional testing solutions across web and API platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in API automation with Rest Assured, combined with solid knowledge of BDD methodologies using Cucumber. As a key member of the QA team, you will contribute to building and enhancing test automation frameworks that accelerate delivery cycles and improve overall product quality.

This position requires hands-on experience in framework development, automation script creation, and Agile delivery models. You will be closely involved in in-sprint automation, ensuring continuous validation of product functionality while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks for both web and API applications.

• Build reusable and scalable test scripts that integrate into existing frameworks.

• Perform API automation testing using Rest Assured to validate services and endpoints.

• Apply BDD methodologies with Cucumber to design behavior-driven test cases.

• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product owners in Agile ceremonies and sprint cycles.

• Deliver in-sprint automation for rapid validation of features and functionality.

• Conduct detailed test planning, execution, and reporting of results.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in test scripts, frameworks, and environments.

• Provide clear documentation of test strategies, scripts, and execution logs.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives within QA processes and tools.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Proven experience in functional testing and test automation across web and API systems.

• Strong hands-on expertise with Rest Assured for API automation.

• Practical experience in framework development and automation script design.

• Solid understanding of BDD methodology with Cucumber.

• Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment with a focus on in-sprint automation.

• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills within QA domains.

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across cross-functional teams.

• Familiarity with modern testing tools, practices, and Agile delivery models.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field.

• Additional certifications in automation testing tools or Agile methodologies are a plus.
