IBM: Software Engineer Intern

About the Internship

IBM is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer Intern to join its Cloud Platform Automation team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and modern software development workflows. You will work with some of the brightest minds in the industry to build and maintain cloud-native solutions that power global applications and enterprise systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of code changes – from development and testing to deployment and monitoring.

• Work with open-source tools for instrumentation, alerting, and debugging of production environments.

• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure uptime and operational continuity of services.

• Collaborate in architectural discussions to enhance scalability, performance, and user experience.

• Assist internal development teams by providing technical support and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.

• Stay updated on the latest cloud and automation technologies including VPC, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Istio, and Akamai.

Eligibility Criteria

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related technical field.

• Available for a full-time internship at the IBM office in Hyderabad or Bangalore.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Golang, Python, Java, or C++.

• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

• Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure and software engineering principles.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with IBM Cloud services and deployment of cloud-native applications.

• Exposure to DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration systems like Kubernetes.
