Job Description

Nike is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer I to join its India Technology Center and play a key role in building, maintaining, and scaling the resilient digital systems that power Nike’s global consumer experiences. In this role, you’ll ensure that Nike’s web and mobile platforms deliver consistent, high-performance, and secure digital experiences to millions of users worldwide.

As part of Nike’s Resilience Engineering team, you’ll apply your skills across software development, cloud infrastructure, and observability systems to build reliability into every layer of Nike’s technology stack. From real-time monitoring to proactive issue resolution, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to prevent downtime, automate processes, and enhance overall digital performance.

You’ll not only ensure uptime — you’ll help engineer reliability, observability, and sustainability into Nike’s next-generation digital ecosystem, making a direct impact on the brand’s mission to inspire every athlete across the globe.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and diagnose complex production issues, ensuring minimal service interruptions for digital applications.

• Develop and deploy real-time observability and monitoring solutions to assess system health, reliability, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Perform root cause analysis to identify infrastructure or code-level defects and implement sustainable fixes.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-based microservices and distributed systems on AWS or similar cloud platforms.

• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize system performance and improve end-user experience.

• Manage IT service processes like Incident, Problem, and Change Management in alignment with service reliability goals.

• Implement and improve automation pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or similar CI/CD systems.

• Work with observability platforms (Splunk, New Relic, SignalFX) to extract actionable insights and improve reliability metrics.

• Communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Foster a culture of resilience and continuous learning, mentoring junior engineers and sharing reliability best practices.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • Equivalent practical experience (1–3 years) may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.

• Technical Skills:

  • Strong coding experience with Java, Node.js, or similar backend languages.

  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Angular) is a plus.

  • Exposure to modern programming languages such as Scala, Python, or Golang.

  • Solid understanding of DNS, networking, Linux, and virtualization fundamentals.

  • Experience managing cloud-native architectures on AWS or similar platforms.

  • Hands-on with Docker, serverless architectures, and RESTful APIs.

  • Proficient in NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Cassandra, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and ServiceNow.

  • Familiar with observability tools such as Splunk, New Relic, SignalFX, and CI/CD systems like Jenkins.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about system performance and reliability.

Expected Salary

For a Site Reliability Engineer I at Nike India, the expected salary typically ranges between ₹9.5 LPA to ₹16 LPA, depending on experience, skill level, and proficiency in cloud-based reliability engineering.
