JPMorgan Chase: Software Engineer III (Python & React)

JPMorgan Chase’s Risk Tech division in Bengaluru is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer III with expertise in Python and React to join a collaborative, agile team. In this role, you will architect, design, and build resilient, scalable web applications and backend services that underpin critical risk-management solutions. You’ll work with large, diverse datasets—transactional, market, and operational—to create interactive dashboards, RESTful APIs, and microservices that drive real-time analytics and decision-making. By adhering to secure-coding best practices, incorporating telemetry (monitoring, alerting, log aggregation), and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (data scientists, business analysts, QA, DevOps), you’ll ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of the software that safeguards JPMorgan Chase’s global business.

🧩 Key Responsibilities
Full-Stack Development
• Design and implement frontend components using React JS, integrating state management, routing, and UI frameworks.
• Build backend microservices and RESTful APIs in Python (Flask, Django, or FastAPI), ensuring clean architecture and modular design.
• Incorporate telemetry—metrics, logs, and alerts—into services for real-time monitoring and observability.

Data & Analytics Integration
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to translate analytics models into production-ready code.
• Optimize data ingestion and processing pipelines, using SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to handle large risk datasets.
• Develop interactive dashboards and visualizations that expose key risk metrics and trends to stakeholders.

Performance, Security & Reliability
• Profile and optimize application performance (CPU, memory, I/O), employing caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) where appropriate.
• Enforce secure-coding standards (OWASP Top Ten), conduct code reviews, and incorporate static and dynamic security scans.
• Implement automated CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI) to ensure seamless integration, testing, and deployment to hybrid cloud environments (AWS, on-prem).

Collaboration & Agile Practices
• Work in cross-functional Agile squads, participating in sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Partner with QA engineers to define test plans, write unit/integration tests, and automate end-to-end testing.
• Liaise with product owners and business analysts to refine user stories, clarify acceptance criteria, and deliver incremental features.

Mentorship & Continuous Improvement
• Mentor junior engineers on best practices in software design, testing, and DevOps workflows.
• Stay current on emerging technologies—modern JavaScript frameworks, Python libraries, cloud-native patterns—and share insights with the team.
• Contribute to internal knowledge bases, design documentation, and coding standards to foster continuous learning.

🎓 Qualifications & Skills
Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Experience & Technical Skills
• 3–8 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years working in Python and React.
• Expertise in modern frontend technologies: React, Redux (or Context API), JSX, and component-based design.
• Strong backend development skills in Python frameworks (Flask, Django, FastAPI) with experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases, including schema design and query optimization.
• Familiarity with distributed messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and real-time data processing.
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm) in hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
• Solid understanding of telemetry and observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK stacks, and log aggregation (Fluentd, Logstash).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of secure-coding practices and common vulnerability mitigation (OWASP Top Ten, SAST, DAST).
• Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies, Scrum ceremonies, and collaborative tools (Jira, Confluence, Git).

• Exposure to cloud-native development on AWS (Lambda, ECS/EKS), Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with micro frontends or serverless architectures.
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Developer, Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or equivalent.

💰 Estimated Salary Range
• Monthly Salary: ₹1,20,000 – ₹1,80,000
• Annual CTC: ₹14.4 LPA – ₹21.6 LPA
